‪Disney's All Star Sports Resort New Refillable Mug Machines Demo with Narration 7/26/11‬‏ - YouTube
Here's a video of the system they are testing at all-star sports for the refillable drinks. It applies to not just the mugs but you also get limited refills for paper cups too.

Really seems like a waste to me. As cheap as fountain drinks are, can they really be losing money?
I posted this up in another thread on this topic too. It's one of those things where I don't think they are so much losing money as much as they don't want guests abusing the system. To me, if that's really such a problem, don't have self serve drink stations.

I understand why the system is in place but sometimes i drink my drink fast and i don't want to have to wait before i can get a refill. And there is also times when i get the wrong drink because i put my cup under the wrong one or i misheard who i was getting the drink for on what they wanted so then i will have to wait to get a new drink or have to use my refill so i can get the right drink. Or sometimes the soda taste funny and i want to dump it out and get a different one.

I agree Cort... I am a drinker. When I'm eating I usually go through at least 2 or 3 refills after the first one. When/if this moves to all the resorts, I may just be skipping food courts.

More minusing, less perks; Disney's new business model.

Usually the problem is the large groups that come through and fill up anything they bring with them. This just verify's they recently bought something from Disney. Yeah it can be annoying but I see why they did it. I would think this would cost more but hard to say.
I have a question. The video showed the paper cup and having 4 refills. But the mugs say unlimited. So is there a limit to the 4 refills for an hour (isn't that what it said) or is it truly unlimited. Just asking...
I think the paper cup is limited to the hour time (since you will probably throw it away when you are done with the meal). While the Mug is unlimited.
That is what I thought but just wanted to ask!
This might not be Disney testing, but the vendor, who has a relationship with Coca-Cola, trying to get in to Disney and setting up a demo.
What gets me is the mugs themselves just don't hold much, and having to wait 5 minutes between fills when I could easily drain one fill far faster than that...unless I have a room close to a filling station, I don't see getting a mug any more.
