Re: XPass - You may never tour Walt Disney World the same way again ...
I was on the WDW park website just looking around at prices. Got one of those "would you care to do a survey" thing. I always say yes to this one. But it asked a ton of questions about would I want to have the option of getting Fast passess before I left. Do I like to do scheduling (dining or fastpasses) online. How many days out should each of these be. Things like that.

If you are the planning type I imagine this is great news.

I am always so quick to hit no when asked to do a survey. Maybe, next time I will say "Yes!"

In theory I think this sounds really really cool, especially for rides with serious lines like Toy Story Mania or Soarin' but I also think it's something people wound plan and wind up blowing off when they arrive and want to be more spontaneous. I dunno, maybe that's just me.
I'm all for planning where to be when in terms of dining and parks, but once in the parks I become much more laid back. (don't check with my family for references on that, haha)

Or perhaps Disney just feels that people are too stupid to be able to know what they feel like doing and when. You know what? I'm on vacation. If I feel like eating now, I will. Maybe I'm not hungry yet, but I will be in a half hour. Or maybe I was hungry 20 minutes ago. Or perhaps the shortest line for a ride is clear on the other side of the park from where I am right now. It's the cast members that have the lobotomies. Not the park guests.

I think Disney is trying to schedule every bit of minutia they can. They want to get as many bodies through attractions as quickly as possible. It won't surprise me if they start de-emphasizing details and themeing in queues...that's too distracting and slows people down. I wonder if you will have to schedule restroom breaks as well.

Oh no! I said I didn't like the idea and I thought it took away from the Magic.

People will miss the little things that make Disney special if they do this. Unless......

Exactly. That is what I am afraid of. It will make it more difficult to have a special, relaxing vacation. We watch the clock too much as it is. I only want to know when the next meal is!;)

Never been a clock watcher. I try not to even wear my watch when I'm on vacation, whether it's Germany, Jamaica, or Orlando. If I need to know the time, ask someone. Otherwise, I'm not on a schedule. The only thing I need to know is when to be back on my plane.
Re: XPass - You may never tour Walt Disney World the same way again ...
I don't mind fastpasses and ADR's, but I also like spontaneity while at WDW. It's fun to just ramble and enjoy what you want whenever you want. I like to be able to roll with the changing weather, also. Especially when you go on a solo trip it's great not to have an itinerary.
Re: XPass - You may never tour Walt Disney World the same way again ...
I don't mind fastpass because they don't hold you to a specific time. I can (and have) used my 1pm fastpass at 8pm, if I want to. But if they MADE me come back within that hour window, there is no way I'm regimented enough to be in a certain place at a certain time, especially for something as trivial as a carnival ride.

mike,
i think this is why Disney is gonna try to push things... it might help them know in advance where they need to have more CM's on... but im with you... i dont want my trip dictated to me...
Re: XPass - You may never tour Walt Disney World the same way again ...
I dunno. After running theme parks for over fifty years, they'd better have staffing concerns under control by now.
Re: XPass - You may never tour Walt Disney World the same way again ...
One would think... But I'm sure you have seen issues much the same way I have... I just find it ludacris that a person would have to plan out what time they are going on space mountain a month before their trip...
