Nope. When they didn't even start their mandatory 12 months of pushing the dirt around, figured it was dead.![]()
Disney announced 'plans' several years ago for a hotel in the DC area, but no additional news was announced until today, that the hotel project is being canceled.
Disappointing, but not surprising, given the $$ spent on Aulani, DCA refurb and the upcoming Shanghai resort.

Not sure this idea was the best fit for their portfolio. The National Harbor area seems to be mostly convention and isn't the most convenient for touring DC without a car if I recall correctly.
Personally, I haven't been to the National Harbor, but it's a huge facility, having driven past it along the beltway. Correct, it's not near DC and isn't on the metro line, so it makes a car absolutely necessary.
I might be wrong, but I seem to recall that the Disney hotel was to be used in conjunction with Adventure By Disney tours. That strategy appears to have been reworked.

This is dissapointing news. To have a DVC close to the northeast (driving distance for me) and in a location with plenty of thngs to do in the nation's capitol would have been a great thing. They must not have garnered much intrest in people buying points. Bad news.![]()
I can believe that with all their other projects right now, it just wasn't economically feasible.
Very surprised after acquirng the land in the first place. I'll bet they didn't get the intrest they intended.
Not surprised. Disney has had projects like this dumped before, I remember the vision of a ski resort out West. The interest in Vero wasn't what they exactly hoped for.
I'm interested to see how Hawaii pans out. That is one pricey venue and costs a bundle to get there. Disney has completion in Hawaii so I am curious to see how quickly they can sell off those DVC's and how often the hotel portion is filled.
With all this on the plate maybe with an offer to buy back the WDC land Disney jumped at the chance to get some cash flow going.
Some people are like Slinkies.
They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.
Friends are Gods way of apologizing to us for our families.
Mineral King, which is part of Sequoia National Park (I used to work there). Extremely beautiful area, but really kind of remote for a Disney place. It takes about 2 hours to get up to there from the town in the river valley because the road is necessarily windy. Country Bear Jamboree was created to potentially be there.
Bummer. I could have very easily made us of this. NYC would be nice too...
