It's still fairly lame, with plenty of things to pass up. But there are some must-ride attractions there.
Really, Walt? Disneyland is MY land? Why would I want a silly little land when I can have the WORLD.

Yeah, the Spiderman ride was the top of the heap back in those days. Don't know if they've beat it yet. We may have to take a day and go there while we're in town next Christmas.
Wouldn't even mind checking out Sea World again. It's easily been 20 years since we were last there and have heard it's improved quite a bit.

Wow, same here. Though my last trip was more like 25 years. I can't even be sure I was there the last time I went with my family. I remember visiting Universal the first year it opened, and nearly every ride was broken. To the point where every guest leaving was given a free pass to return again at a later date. That was probably my last family trip to Florida, and I don't know if Sea World was part of that trip or the one before. I have embarrasing pictures of my sisters and me standing with a costumed Shamu, and I wasn't a teenager. Wow, I feel old.

Re: Disney's Special NYE surprise announcement
Having thought more about it, I believe my wife and I last went in 1990. They had that show with the water screens at the skiing stadium. No roller coasters or amusement park attractions of any kind. Just all the shows. It was a cool park, but nothing spectacular. A few notches above Circus World, I suppose.
As for Universal, we've only been there once. Have never done the studio side, but we did used to spend many weekend nights at City Walk (mostly because we were a bit too old for the Pleasure Island crowd at the time). Just never had the desire to visit either park again...
And trust me, I've got a closet full of embarrassing pics. You should see me in my high water, green corduroys at Sea World circa 1977.

Hearing that "select" attractions will be open for the extra hours. Any word on what will be open yet or if it will mirror the EMH's for late night?
Some people are like Slinkies.
They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.
Friends are Gods way of apologizing to us for our families.

I haven't heard anything yet, but I'm hoping friends will find out soon

Re: Disney's Special NYE surprise announcement
Back on the original topic for a second... (sorry I'm behind) I wasn't shocked at the announcement because everyone had speculated it but regardless of that, I think it's a pretty big deal. It's the first time in history that they've been open 24 hours and, while some folks may not care in the least because they've been able to be there from whenever to whenever because of EMH, I think just the historical aspect is reason enough to be at least interested.
Me... I'd LOVE to be there for it but at the same time, I am quite sure that because it is such a historic event, the place will be a mad house for each of it's 24 hours. I figure there are probably lots of folks out there who think like I do in that it would be really darn cool to be there for something historic like that. Plus, you KNOW they will have some sort of limited edition special merchandise type thing(s) that are only available during those 24 hours.
Bottom line: I'm not disappointed at all with the announcement. Sure, it turned out to be exactly what was rumored/predicted but so what? Was thrilled to find out the rumor mill had this one right!
Sometimes all you need is a reminder that out there lies a better place... a better world... a Walt Disney World.
