    Davy Jones Has Died

    I consider this Disney News because he was always at the Summer Concert Series at Epcot... in fact, I saw him there a few years ago!

    Davy Jones, the lead singer of the Beatles-inspired made-for-TV pop group the Monkees, died Wednesday. He was 66.

    Yep showing my age. I used to watch the Monkees all the time.

    Yep, same as the rest of ya', watched it all the time.
    Remember his cameo on The Brady Bunch, too.
    Sad. Way too young.

    Don't be so sure. There are a surprising number of women in their mid 20's - early 30's that remember Davy as their first crush because they were watching The Monkees when it was running in syndication. A lot of us were watching Nickelodeon, including the Nick at Nite block (if our parents let us stay up that late). My sister is only 25 and was just over the moon for him as a kid. She wasn't happy to hear the news at all.

    I used to watch The Monkees (& The Brady Bunch - love the Davy Jones episode!!! "He's Dreamy!" ) rereuns on tv after school. So kooky, it was funny!

    My husband and I watched The Monkees documentary a few weeks ago. (This was before his death. Really weird with the timing.) It got me to thinking of the Flower Power series they have during Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival. Davy Jones was a staple at that. I wanted to catch Davy Jones there one year. Missed my chance.

    Remind me to NOT go to his doctor that recently gave him a clean bill of health. Such a shame.
