I loved when the imagineer excitedly explained how he was like "oh my god we've located the original orange bird!!! he does exist!" Orangie as I'll call him, is totally cute. It will bring back a lot of memories for the older people that visited WDW back in the day. The Orange Bird was a symbol of "You Are Definitely In Florida Now! Welcome" He was side by side with Mickey at the stores and such. He just makes you happy! Everything old is new again.
I have vague memories of Orange Bird however I do remember the little plastic oranges filled with fresh orange juice really well.
I also remember being outside the property and the stands everywhere, selling bags of fresh oranges. My folks would buy us those 2 inch hard plastic straws that plunged into the side of the orange and you slurped real hard to slurp up all the juice inside the fresh orange.
In my childhood oranges were the souvenir every family brought back home.
And I'll take Orange Bird over Duffy any day.
