Fantasyland Update

I feel dumb and out of the loop on this, but is that whole building just for restrooms?

Yeah for the most part one building for guys, one for gals, family. And then they built a huge Tangled Tower that can be seen from the mansion and Liberty Square.

It will also be the new pathway for coming and going out of Fantasyland the old one will be sealed with the new Peter Pan Queue that will take over the old restrooms.

The Tangled restrooms will also have a shaded area to sit and relax and recharge electronics with WiFi in the seating area. Anyhow some enthusiastic Disney people have been getting overly excited about the Grand Opening of the restrooms like they are the next coming...flip side Tangled Restrooms have been the Butt of many jokes.
I've had some very good belly laughs reading them.

I hope you're not referring to the portal between Fantasyland and Liberty Square (the one that goes under the second level dining area of Columbia Harbour House).

It's so far away from the existing Peter Pan queue that it doesn't make sense unless it will just be temporary during construction or for some sort of rehab.

If they do extend the Peter Pan queue in that direction it would mean blocking the exit from CHH into Fantasyland.

I don't think they are closing the portal because of the queue itself - only that it WILL close after the new path and bathrooms are open and the begin work on the new queue.

And now I am confused. Are you saying it will reopen after the new queue is open for PP, 'cause that is different from what I had heard.

No, it won't reopen again that I know of. I was just clarifying - I don't believe the plan for the new queue itself impinges on the portal, but it is closing as part of the plan anyways such that all the traffic will take the new path.

Edit: I went looking for the plans, but the only one my google searches turned up seem to imply the current portal might remain open, although I had heard it would close permamently elsewhere...

Scroll down until you come to the aerial photo. Since there are construction walls around the Yankee Trader could that mean that the portal is being shifted over to that location?

Thanks. I guess if the original every re-opens, we will know then. The plans for that area adjusted so many times I kinda lost track, I thought the new path replaced however no doubt, I could be misunderstanding the master plan.

Thanks. It is meant to help with the bottle neck by Columbia House, I wonder if ultimately there will be a new bottle neck in front of the Haunted Mansion now instead during heavy crowd times. Time will tell I guess.

I guess that means one side for Fantasyland/Tangled and one for Liberty Square/Haunted Mansion?

Well, it never really had a back side - which would now face the pathway that's closer to HM...so I'm sure most if not all is to deal with that.

They needed to make it presentable from the Tangled side. There are some pretty pictures in this report, looks like the colors are a pretty good transition from Tangled to Liberty.

Well the the Tangled restrooms missed their target date but so close. The last of the skyway building came down in June 2011. So almost 2 years later......
