3D, in my opinion, is just not worth the money, nor does it provide the full experience of 3D, when its applied to a movie not made for 3D from the start. I went with my son to see Titanic in 3D and it was a titanic disappointment. So far the best 3D I've seen has been Star Tours and Philharmagic and a few IMAX 3D movies that were made for the 3D experience.
I'm not big on 3D, either. But, the new 3D technology is lightyears beyond the stuff from decades ago.
But you're right on the money. It's not good unless the movie was originally shot with the intent. Unless it's an animated movie, which they can do all kinds of neat things with.
Wreck It Ralph is one of the newer 3D movies I've seen and it was outstanding. The 3D itself was never really in your face. It simply provided an amazing depth of field.

Boba Fett and a young Han Solo among those being considered.

I don't know if they are actually being considered, or those were just examples being used by a "source" as to why so many possibilities are being batted around - they haven't actually decided on anything other than who is writing them. All the concentration right now is getting Episode VII moving.

I liked that they used the word "considered." Said a lot.

Exactly.
The purchase just happened. As did the announcement they were going to make more SW movies. Considering how valuable the franchise is, there will likely be an extended period of time for fleshing out ideas and concepts before final decisions are made.
They're likely going to concentrate on making a whole new "universe" so they can try to create a cohesive series of sequels. Not just a single movie.
