    Say it ain't so!

There is a rumor circulating on another site that a supposed article from the Orlando Sentinel states that Uncle Walt's Carousel of Progress is going to be removed for a new attraction. I could not find any information on the Sentinel's site. I hope this is just a joke.

P.S. Is anyone else beginning to wonder what is going on at WDW with the closings, seasonal openings, and rumors of replacing some of the iconic rides and attractions? Does WDW need more roller coasters?

I hope they don't close COP Walt wanted it to never close - some of the bigwigs there now seem to be forgetting his dream...

you know, after all the hub-bub they give before it starts about how it was Walt's favorite attraction, you would think they would have that respect for him.

If they were to just move it to say.....Epcot, that wouldn't be so bad...much better than closing it.

That's my 3rd favorite attraction too
All the people will look up and shout: "Save us!" and I'll whisper...'no'.

    Who watches the watchmen?

I've been hearing this rumor for awhile. What's new about it that gives the rumor any merit now?

I agree Heat, CoP would probably fit over in Epcot as well.

It seems this info is coming from CMs at WDW and being picked up by General Grizz of WDWMagic fame and now of his own website, D-Troops. His site seems to be up-to-date as to what is really happening at WDW behind the scenes and he is making every attempt to save these rides and attractions.

if CoP closes, I may have to protest.

for years now I have been making mix-Cds for my friends as random gifts... and the last song on every one is, "It's a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow." in fact, it's become a tradition! at first, everyone hated it and asked what it was and why it was on their mix Cd, but after awhile, everyone has come to expect it and love it.

and ever since my fiance and I decided to honeymoon at Disney, she's been excited to FINALLY get to see where that song comes from!!!

I honestly cannot express how disappointed and sick I will be if CoP closes...

If we can dream it, we can do it

Indeed CoP would fit at Epcot, Seeing that Horizons (RIP ) was a "sequel" to it

It's a rotating theatre. There are 4 segments of the show plus the beginning where you load. You sit in a theatre and rotate around the stage where each scene takes you through time. The scenes are the turn of the century, 20's, 40's, and the "present." You see the progress of technology of one AA family.

There are some videos of it online somewhere along with a tribute website.

I really enjoy it. It's a welcomed break from the busy parks, plus I still find it enjoyable to watch.

To be honest, I would miss COP at all, but I would be wary of them getting rid of it, especially with the Walt Disney connection. It just seems too dated for me. I wouldn't prefer to have an addition few scenes added, maybe with the 80s and then the present day, before the future.

JC - I've started to notice it too.
We don't need roller coasters, we need submarine rides
