    A sequel to Bambi?

Bambi?!?!? How do you make a sequel to a movie that is over 50 years old?!?!? What are they going to do, show Bambi, Flower and Tumper in the old folks home talking about the "Great Fire of '42"?

Walt would be rolling over in his grave...and as for another company buying his "baby"...I'm surprised that he hasn't risen up and done something about it. I'm just sad that Roy has chosen to leave the Board of Directors. I mean...he's family!

All I know is what Walt said about sequels, "You can't top pig with pigs!" Or deer, or lions, or bears, or ..., well, you get the picture!

Well, I can understand a sequel to Pirates. After all they did change the name to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in anticipation of it doing well at the box office. If the movie had just been called Pirates of the Caribbean, what would a sequel be called??

As far as the other sequels - well, times change. When Walt was living and breathing and not frozen there was no reasonably priced technology around that consumers could watch movies over and over again in the comfort of their own homes. So the thought of a secondary market for his film libraries was pretty non-existent. With the advent of VCR's and now DVD's there is a market for cheaply made sequels that go direct to video and DVD.

It must be profitable, otherwise we would never see these things. Love 'em or hate 'em they are here to stay.

At least they do not make cheapie sequels with lower art quality and release them for the big screen.

If they want to make Cinderella XII and Lion King 6 1/2 fine by me. My kids are older and I won't be purchasing them. So they won't see a penny from me for those sequels.

Part of the problem with sequels, Disney or otherwise, is that save for a few exeptions (Godfather II and Empire Strikes Back), the sequels are never nearly as good as the original, and often times "taint" the franchise a bit (Remember "Star Trek V"? Didn't think you did).

But hey, will I go see Pirates II? You bet. :pirate: (Maybe not Haunted Mansion II... but...)

:pirate: Pirates II.... Oh yeah Baby!!!!

I've always been a ****er for a good swashbuckling Pirate movie. Then again we redheaded wenches (me and Maureen O'Hara) cant resist the lure of the open sea.

Ace... was that the Star Trek with the whales? (I liked that one )

We have passed on most of the sequels. But like 1Hour, my kids are not into the new ones as much. Although I have been told we must get Lion King 1 1/2.

    Kids!

Okay - so I just saw Lion King 1 1/2 today - and oh my God - it is hilarious! I loved it -- Mainly because two of my favorite Broadway Actors are in it again -- (Give me saw Theatre Actors and I will see anything you want!!)

As for a second Pirates -- pretty much - if Johnny Depp dresses up like a Pirate - I am there -- it could be a sequel to Mariah Carey's Glitter, and if Johnny is dressed as a pirate - I am still going to see it!
