Extras needed at WDW for TV Shows!

According to my source, extras for a number of TV tapings will be needed at Walt Disney World in April, 2006. Assuming this information is accurate, I'd LOVE to see some members of the DisneyWorldTrivia.com family down there!

Wednesday, April 5, 2006, 7:00pm – 2:00am

We’re looking for 1200 audience members at the Magic Kingdom.

Please note this is a television production and may go later than times listed above.

This program is a night time outdoor activity. You may be assigned a seated position or a standing position. Age range we are looking for is from 5 years old and up.

As a thank you for your participation, Walt Disney World will give one complimentary ticket per person to return to a WDW theme park at another time. You will need to complete the entire shift in order to receive this gift.

Arrival and check-in:

• You will receive a parking flyer by email that will enable you to park free of charge at the Magic Kingdom. Please proceed to the “Dopey” section of the lot and park there. When you leave at the end we need to be all in one spot – the “Dopey” section of the parking lot.
• From there take the tram to the monorail and go to the main entrance of Magic Kingdom (the train station by the turn styles). Please meet at the guest services area for check in.

Please bring the parking flyer for check-in.

• Be prepared for security to check all personal items and bags. Please keep bags to a minimum, as there is no place to store or keep them and we cannot be responsible for them.

While on set:
• Be prepared to pay attention to important announcements and instructions.
• Once on set, it is important that you stay in the designated areas for extras.
• Safety first, watch your step around equipment.
• There will be popcorn, soda, and bottled water available for purchase after the park closes until the filming ends. Please plan accordingly.

What to Wear:
• Please wear comfortable clothes with no logos on them. Please avoid white or black if possible. Bright colors look good on camera. Bring a jacket or sweater it may get cool outside.
After the Taping:

• You will be given your complimentary ticket upon exiting the park. Transportation to your vehicles will be provided.

April 6th - Everest

We are excited about this event at Disney's Animal Kingdom. For those of you who have not worked with us before; we are Background Entertainment.

We provide background performers for commercial, film and print work in Florida. This event will be riding the new ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom, called Expedition Everest. It is a roller-coaster and has all the ups and downs and twist and turns, so just be prepared. Each rider will receive a Walt Disney World Park Ticket for your participation in this event.

We set up a web-site for this event, so you can have all the information you will need for the shoot.

Just wanted to give a quick update on the commercial shoot.

It was really a fun day. We were there from 11am thru 3pm. We rode EE 17 times in a 2.5 hr span. I hate to say it but I don't think I'm going to ride again for a couple of months!

They way it worked was they had cameras mounted to the front of the trains facing back towards the riders. Then the celebrities, radio and tv personalities would take turns riding in the front two rows and we the extras would fill in the rest of the train. Basically we would ride, get off, do the fast pass line wait less than 5 minutes and then ride again. There were alot of foriegn tv "stars", they were from Brazil etc. Also we rode with Zack and Cody from the Suite life w/ Zack and Cody. Some of the cast of That's so Raven. All the kids from High School Musical (or something similar to that). Joey Fatone from whatever boy band he was in. And then reporters from every tv and radio station known to God.

In the beginning it was moving kind of slow. But then everything started moving really quickly and it was nonstop riding. Some people rode so much they actually hurled! They had to stop everything to clean up the mess!


I did not know if we were allowed to take cameras so I don't have any pics. Sorry. If anybody has any questions please ask, I might have forgotten something.

Here's my report... we had more news media people, and tons of disney channel stars that I lost count, but here's a 'trip report' i typed up for my blog... i'll just copy/paste...

okay here is an outline of how my day went...

2:45pm-Arrive, park in the pea**** parking lot that is reserved for media and media cast. :-) Walked over to guest relations where we were told to meet.
3:00pm- Fill out a consent form that says that all images/tapes become property of Disney and also, if you die, not their fault. basically, you sell your soul. ;-)
3:30pm-Stand around for awhile until they decide to escort us back to Everest (Asia closed at 3pm so we had to wait for an escort, as they tried to herd us through the park all together through people leaving. I felt like a sheep). Went right into the 'fast pass return line' and onto the ride.

Okay here is how it is from 3:30-5 about with details and whatnot..

Whenever we curved back around to get back in line, they kept on going 'you're doing great talent!' or other stuff like that. highly amusing.

How the cars were set up, in the first row there was a camera attacked to the top, pointing back at the people so the people in rows 2-4 would be on film. Rows 2 and 3 had lights on them to accent them. These rows had lots of different celebrites (disney channel stars, orlando magic, etc.) and Reporters on them throughout the day. I saw Jeff Corwin and a lot of random Disney Channel stars and the girl from real world seattle, who was there a lot.. the blonde/brownish one with curly hair? who knows.

Anyway, Alan and I road it 8 times during that. We also were interviewed by a lady who asked us how it was with a mic and camera right in our faces, so... enjoy it. Look for us on tv! (Alan is wearing a blue polo. I'm wearing a yellow t-shirt.) We were also in the background for lots of random interviews, so look for us.

Also we got to ride in a variety of rows including the 2-4 rows a couple times, so there are a LOT of tapes with us on it that went out to news stations. :-) Also they had cameras that we waved to as we were leaving and coming in, so look for us again! :-) Just look all your news stations on April 7th because that is the official opening date.

5:15pm-Take a break, water, bathroom, talk to my mom for a bit cuz she was asking me how it was. Then get back in line for Everest. We also walked around and looked as they were setting up for the Media Event. Everything was REALLY pretty. I'm jealous.
5:30pm-riding Everest for the 9th time. By now... I know every inch of the ride. lol.

5:50pm-Was told that you have to ride once more then they'll give you your free ticket so you can leave. Got in line again, and ended up being in the background of a fox news interview, and also sat right behind them on the car, so you might see us. (they were interviewing a LOT of little kids!) So we road Everest one last time.

6:10pm-Last ride over, get free ticket, wait until they could herd us back through the park to leave. By now they have food that they are setting up for the Media event that starts at 7pm. We ended up walking past all the free food/drinks for them. It looked delicious! We walked through the park which was completely empty, and kinda neat. We passed tons of disney managers and workers who just kept going 'thanks for being an extra. hope you had fun' and other stuff like that.

Finally, we left and I'm exhausted. My legs hurt from standing and riding and my cheeks hurt from smiling! :-D I'm officially... tired.

Just a side note... there are different shows on Science Channel, Travel Channel, Animal Planet Channel

Sunday, April 9th at 8pm and 11pm "Everest the Experience" on the Travel Channel
Monday, April 10th at 9pm "Building a Thrill Ride: Expedition:Everest" on the Science Channel
Sunday, April 15th at 8pm "Corwins Quest: Realm of the Yeti" on the Animal Planet Channel

So check 'em out! They are having Everest specials!

And I don't think I'll be riding Everest for a couple months either. Although, I promised my Dad I would take him on next week when he comes to visit, so after that I'm done.

Mouseman, you are so lucky! Don't mention the Zack and Cody kid to my sister (like she will ever see this post anyway) she would be so mad! You are so lucky! I wished I would of gone (I had left like 3 days before! Actually, my sister had said she saw twins who looked like Zack and Cody at MGM...hmm...)
