    Universe of Energy Rumors

All day today I've been trying to get a mental picture of the original UoE preshow and ride etc. so as a result I was out googling and came across a site where a rumor regarding UoE was discussed about a year ago.

Has anyone heard rumors that UoE is going to be shut down? This site says the hydrolics that open and close the doors between each scene are unreparable and there are multiple other issues and the cost of maintaining the attraction is just too high. I find this really hard to believe but then again I found it really hard to believe they were going to tear down Horizons and build a thrill ride instead of doing a refurb to get it up to date. Anyone heard this rumor? Like I said this site's information was from nearly a year ago (March '06) but still it made me curious.

I couldn't disagree more but everyone is indeed entitled to their opinion. I love UoE. I also loved Horizons, World of Motion, the original Journey into Imagination and Food Rocks.

I agree with both PeterPanFlight & First Timer & that is because over the past few visits to EPCOT, I noticed that the whole attraction was bent out of shape & it feels that the whole attraction takes forever to end & it gets so boring when the only thing you watch is huge television screens. Now the only thing I liked was seeing the dinosaurs but I now rather see them at Animal Kingdom's attraction.

And also if you guys didn't know but I heard that if this ride closes, Disney has planned out that the audio-animatronic dinosaurs will be going into the Dinosaur thrill ride over at AK.

I do like that they added Ellen she is hilarious and the only reason I tried the new UOE since the old one was boring too... however it was long, my butt really hurt by the end from sitting on the hard plastic

I agree that the original ride was a bit long (especially the last movie) but I truly enjoy this attraction now. I think the addition of Ellen gave it some much needed humor but it still retains it's original concept.

    /rant on
The original "purpose" of Epcot was to be a place to have fun but also learn. This is a classic example of an edutainment attraction. I get the feeling however that the majority of people who say it's boring are in the child/preteen/teen/young adult age group that has started to want Disney to be more "Universal like" and plop some more thrill rides in. Nothing wrong with that opinion, it's just not what Epcot, let alone Disney, was conceived to be.
    /rant off

Anyway... ChampDisney you go as far as to say you've heard that Disney is already planning to move the Dinosaurs in the attraction to AK. Is this truly something that you've heard and if so from where (out of curiosity)? I'd love to see if there's any real truth to these rumors so sources can help to indicate that.

Sure thing BamaJenn, the source where I got the information was over at Screamscape.com where they have pretty much everything.

Oh, and I also heard from a friend that I don't know if he was joking or not tell me that the Universe of Energy will be rethemed into "Mr. Incredible's Incredible Energy Adventure." I know it made me laugh but then it got me to think about all the Pixar invasions out there at the Disney theme parks.

I really like it with Ellen and Bill Nye. They cause me to crack up so much, but i've also gotten to the point of annoying people around me because of how im saying what they are or laughign before the joke. But it is a little outdated and long.
