I know it's time for something new but I hope I get to see ROE one more time before it changes. I'm going in early December. Anyone know what the possible timeframe is should they decide to change it?
Illuminations is still t here. There is no new skydance show yet. It could occur sometime later this year, but right now, Illuminations in the show that's there. On the 25th they just had a special tag at the end of Illuminations for Epcot's anniversary!

While staying at CSR this September from the 19-30, there was a message left on our room phone that there were going to be experimental fireworks on certain days at 10:00 pm after the park closed and not to be alarmed about the sound. Whether they were trying out a new show or new fireworks I don't know.
Oh well, ROE had a good run, and if it is permentanly replaced with skydance, it's still the circle of li...erm...attractions.

If you can dream it, you can do it!
maybe i was too young the last time i saw illuminations, but i definitely liked fantasmic much better. maybe its just the music, or maybe we didnt even see illuminations last time we were there i'm not sure, i just remember thinking it was okay, but liking fantasmic much more. but im also not big on fireworks, so i guess that would maybe explain that, there's more of a plot to follow with fantasmic.
a dream is a wish your heart makes, when you're fast asleep.
Don't take my show away.
Please.
Seriously.
What will I do without "We Go On" in my life?
Seriously.
Please.
Don't take my show away.
It's the first thing we do at Disney every time we go - we get to our resort in the early afternoon/evening and then walk over to EPCOT for the show.
So seriously, if anyone who works for Disney and cares is reading:
Don't take my show away.
Please.
Ok, I'm done now.
But seriously, last year we watched it at dinner for my BFF's 30th BD at the pub in England. It was her first Disney trip (poor thing). She was overwhelmed.
Heck, I've seen it so many times and I'm still overwhelmed. It's like I'm 7 and I believe in everything again.
So please.
Don't take away my show.
Ok, I'm really done now.![]()

I'm really torn by this. I love the music in Illuminations ROE. To me, it's unquestionably what drives it. On the other hand, I've never been able to see a lot of what they show on the globe too clearly, so if they modified that element, I'd be ok. "Skydance" sounds interesting, though. As long as they don't rush the change (a la Alien to Stitch), I would think the result will be ok.
I have a friend working on the new fireworks show at Epcot, so I can confirm that something is in the works. What it is and what it is going to be called, I can't say for certain. Nor do I know when it will begin its run.
And as others have said, they have been doing tests late at night on various days. I haven't stuck around in the park long enough after close to witness any yet, though.
i think the extra firework display they had after illuminations on october first is probaley a hint on what skydance might be like it had better music. I might be wrong but i think they moved the 4 main fountain barges and one facing the center like how like they use to have them and i saw some new things out in the middle of the lake now i could be wrong but it looked like they changed some things. When i looked at maps live i saw some different platforms out in the water that ive never seen before and ive seen all the barges and almost all the shows. i also saw thwm fooling around with some of the lasers after the show and some effects i dodnt reconize from the present show. Remember i could be wrong.
The extra barges and whatnot, are the same barges that they use for the Christmas show. So those are teh "special event" barges basically when they need to set off a LOT of fireworks REALLY quickly. So these barges are always in back just waiting to be used. So there WERE some new barges on October 1st, but nothing that could lead to how the new fireworks would be. So good observation, but those barges are coming out for use again this Friday when their Holiday ending to Illuminations premieres!
(And its one of my ABSOLUTE favorites!)

The reason for the message was that they were testing out the tag for the 25th Anniversary celebration on 1 October. I had a chance to speak with a Special Events CM on the 1st while we were waiting for the burnoff after Illuminations. He told me that, the first time they tested the celebration tag after the park closed, it created quite a disturbance at the nearby resorts. So after that, they began leaving message on room phones about the likelihood that Guests would hear loud noises late at night.
Believe me, those foreworks were the most awesome I have ever seen in my life - the ground shook, the sky was lit up like it was noon and my ears were ringing for several minutes after...it was simply amazing!!! There are videos on youtube.com but they don't do the show justice.

Since you just saw it, I'll ask you. How long do have to wait around for the burnoff? Is it, like, half an hour after Illuminations...an hour?
Thanks!![]()
From what I understand, the burnoff usually occurs 45 - 60 minutes after the conclusion of Illuminations. I just found out about the burnoff on the WDW Today podcast over this past summer. So, the only time I have ever actually stayed for the burnoff was on 1 October for Epcot's 25th Anniversary.
Since they had a fair number of extra barges on the lagoon for the special Epcot 25 tag, it took quite a while until they could get them all pulled back into the staging area and for the safety crew to give the "all clear". The burnoff that night took place about 11:30. By that time, all the gates had been padlocked, the cleanup crews had pulled their trucks Onstage and we had to be escorted out of the park by CMs - it was sooo cool.
Everyone in the Celebration 25 group was still on an emotional high from the events of the day. Even at midnight, we were all singing and having a wonderful time. It was truly a "once in a lifetime" experience and I still get goosebumps just thinking about everything I was able to experience that day!
