What is illuminations skydance?
There is an interview on this week's WDW Radio Show Podcast with Don Dorsey, the man who created Illuminations:Reflections of Earth among other shows, and "Skydance" is listed as a 'current project' on his website. Mr. Dorsey answers your question in the interview.
I guess I should pay more attention to the podcasts.
I like Illuminations, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if something took its place. I'm ready for something new.
I love illuminations, I think it is one of the best shows that Disney does, but I am sure that if they get rid of it, it will only be replaced with something better!
Even if Illuminations is replaced, the "world" will still be there because it was mentioned in the pod cast that WDW is upgrading it a bit to bring it back to it's original brightness. They wouldn't sink money into something that they plan to remove.
i hadn't seen illuminations in a really long time and we just saw it on our recent trip....did they shorten it?
For me its one of my favorite night time shows.
Oh no!! I love illuminations the most of any of the shows.... please dont get rid of it!!
I've never been a big fan of Illuminations. But I don't think anything could ever beat "E-Ticket in the Sky" from Disneyland's 50th celebration. I would leave work early and drive to DL just to watch it.
I would be sad to see Illuminations replaced. An upgrade might be OK though, but I would not want them to change the music since I love it so much, maybe some tinkering with new effects or fireworks would be about it.
I don't know about Illuminations leaving Epcot and I haven't heard a lot of the details about the new Skydance project, but last night we were in our room at Coronado Springs and heard some big fireworks going off just after midnight. We took a peak out of the balcony and had a perfect view over the resort towards Epcot. They were coming from that park and we couldn't figure out what the deal was. We had been at Epcot earlier in the day and knew Illuminations was at 9:00pm and hadn't heard of a second showing or anything like that. The fireworks we saw lasted for a very long time (more than typical Illuminations fireworks) and were pretty high in the sky so I wonder if it was a trial or test for Skydance. Either way, the fireworks we saw were pretty darn impressive!
Even if they do change it I bet it will be pretty good. Ive never seen a firework show at Disney that wasnt pretty spectacular
