Maybe this is a positive sign that Disney might actually do something for Epcot's 25th? I have to be hopeful.

Yeah, good point. This is the first thing that we've seen in terms of something that's going to be finished on the day that the 25th Anniversary would begin: October 1st. I really hope that Disney is keeping something in their back pockets that they'll pull out for the 25th.

the wand is starting to come down on Monday when the attraction closes.

I doubt they'll have a 25th anniversary because the year of a million dreams goes on through December. one celebration is all they'd do, so i doubt we'll see anything for it. I also remember reading a press release from Disney that they had no plans to celebrate Epcot's 25th.

To update everyone. Got in from working at Epcot last night.Sims Crane has the crane up and running,you should be able to see it on the live cam from weatherbug.The work will be done at night. Talked to one of the guys from Sims,and he said they will be stripping the wand decorations and removing the letters first.The steel frame will come down pretty quickly,and they plan on having it down in 2 weeks.

The local news has confirmed the rumor that the giant Mickey Mouse hand and magic wand poised over Epcot’s Spaceship Earth is indeed coming down. Demolition of the arm will actually begin this week though it will take until October for them to finish. Screamscape sources tell us the true reason the arm is coming down wasn’t a Walt Disney World management decision, but was a request (demand?) from Siemans who didn’t feel the giant arm fit the theme of the message they wanted to tell in the new version of Spaceship Earth.

I really hope that they'll pull off some kind of 25th anniversary celebration from oct 07 thru oct 08 - as I am about to plan next years famility vacation to the Magic. By the way - any qualified suggestions which resort would be the best suited for a familiy of three - the youngest being 1½ years at the time ? I am sort of hooked on the idea of staying at Polynesian this time ...

i liked the wand and im am going to be sad when it goes i enjoy looking for it while driving and i think it stood out more but im sure i will get used to it....
