New Things for MGM Hat?

I got the off of WDW News Today:

Secrets In The Hat
In an update on the news we recieved last week on the technical updates to the Sorcerer's Hat at the Disney MGM Studios, some new details have emerged. The hat should be receiving some Fiberoptics and Lighting that would allow the hat to change colors at night, much like Cinderella Castle and Spaceship Earth. Other special effects could be added, but this is all that has circulated thus far.The changes should be taking place this fall.

I can't wait to see the Sorcerer's Hat lid up with tons of beautiful lights once it finished. It will make me happy to see it at night once after watching Fantasmic.

that will be cool, although I don't really love the hat and I guess this means its gonna be around for a long time to come

I'm a Sorcerer Mickey fan so I like the hat. Never liked the placement of it but I understand the whole "licensing" BS from Mann's. I look forward to doing something NEW with it though. It's always been kind of boring.

Yeah, the lights sounds great. It will give the area more of a magical feeling at night.

Gotta admit it, I like the Hat, it really fits the icon for me. The Earful Tower was fine but you didn't really see it when you hit the park like the hat castle, SSE or the TOL

Fiber Optics are a type of lighting. It's basically light sent through fiber (thin plastic tubing basically) to put light just at the ends. Like... for instance in Epcot... the lights built into the cement by Innoventions etc. are Fiber Optics.
