    Why this will never fly.

Six Flags New Orleans flop. (Ponchatrain Beach Flop). Wallace Heck Flea Market Flop. Bass Pro Shop (how many years of litigation?) Gas almost $4 a gallon. Economy is the worst is has been in 20 yrs. Louisiana is still rebuilding but once everyone milks the state of the construction jobs happening now it will be as it was. There aren't enough Highways to get around to take care of the influx of people now. What will happen if 4 Million tourist pour in a year. You got the land you think tourist are gonna come in when the only reason the Juban Road exit was created was so the State Police can Radar from the top and how many years was that rumor? Red Lobster is a staple in every state in EBRP they have gone away twice! If they rebuilt on Veterans I would be very suprised. Go to any restaurant or bowling alley and see what the surroundings are like. You cant even get service in Popeyes anymore because of the lack of Employee motivation. They just look at you like what u want Im talking to my homeys hurry up. Its like that everywhere there. People Disney would be making a big mistake by coming to Louisiana. Jindal is the only thing that makes sense in the state and hes only 1 man. How on Gods green earth can you expect for this to fly when Bass Pro had to fight tooth and nail to build a small fry store with a little money loaned from the locals. Bass pro is not a tourist destination yet it was made out that way from the beginning. Your KOA Denham Springs is the most expensive park in the South. So why prices keep climbing its steady going, going to nothing. Because in the end when the bottom drops out again youll be just like Lake Charles with Casinos that brought in Revenue suddenly dry docked and gone. Why? Because the state is overtaxing everyone with nothing to show for the investment of its people.

To answer your question yes i lived in Baton Rouge until I was 20, served in the Air reserve in Belle Chase. Went to school in Hammond and my daughter goes to school in Hammond. And yes I do live in Nashville. But I own a ton of land in Zachary 400 + acres on HWY 61 My familys estate. I am to familiar with all of this. You see we are on the grand diversion canal map and for now all that land is a white elephant for now.

I moved to Houston at 22 I returned to Louisiana with 2 companies that I still own that I started at 27 yrs of age. I bought a nice house in Prairieville and lived there 3 years. I moved to Nashville because it was move or starve to death and I have a pretty expensive wife to boot.

Let me just say this it is Risky for anybody on a long term basis to open shop in the state. First of all I don't mean to sound upity but I know almost everyone who runs the state. From Major contributors to Warden Cane at Angola. Louisiana is a great state if you are already established and have strong strong ties dating back from the 30's - 40's era. But if you don't I feel for ya.

Look I love Mike Andersons, I love La Fleurs known them for Years. I love Shrimp Stew from Kevins on the Canal and I love to party at Freds. But Red Lobster didnt go out of Town because of these restaurants. In fact I don't know of to many who serve snow crab and king crab as a staple. It went out because after taxes they didnt show very much margin.

If Disney is smart they will build a downtown Disney with ESPN and all the other goodies like they have in Anaheim and see how it goes.

As for Juban road the official excuse is that the feds and the tree huggers was scared it would endanger the environment. But thats not the real truth. A handful of homeowners who had just enough clout to prevent it because they didnt want strangers in there Neighborhoods.

Now in a major city like oh Dallas or Houston. They would have a small hearing give them there there 10 min on the mic and mow it down anyway. Apparently here you have to go through 4 years to get something done. I agree Disney has some pull. But its not the first time they have tried to come to Louisiana now is it? All im saying is why bother with all the red tape when there are so many places with open arms that would welcome them. As it is now everyone whom they bought the acres from has been hush hush on where they bought? Why is that? Because 1 person can tie them up for years.

I lost $350,000 in 2 years in Louisiana. I made 2 million in 16 months in Houston. I am making alot in Nashville and the sad part is the companys I own are staples in every State in the Union but in Louisiana so I say lots of luck to Disney. Blaim it on location, Advertising, or what have you but I can tell you as a land owning tax paying person in Louisiana still there is not alot of future for our kids. Mine is already seeing that. By the way she wants to be a Chef and she worships John Folse. But she knows she has to get out to really make it. At 21 years old I went from $5.50 an hour in Louisiana -$14 an hour doing the same work in Houston. Somehow every one is under the assumption that $35,000 a year is good money. I would be out of business if I paid my people that. You cant live comfortable no where on $35,000 yet thats about average..Mentalitys just need to change thats why theres no pride in these restaurants. They got no reason to do better. Dont believe me go into a Mcdonalds in Indiana or Kansas and see if they arent at your beckon call. They glad to have a job and smile while doing it.

I heard the land was already purchased or was in the process and they had to state by the end of the fiscal year what they were planning on doing with it. I heard everything from an amusement park to a hotel paradise.

Personally, I hope they move here - we need the boost in the economy and living in Denham Springs, I would love the increase in equity on my house

And to all the nay sayers ... as one person pointed out, Disney isn't your average corporation. If you don't know what I mean, work there like I did and find out. I'm not speaking ill of the company, just realize that when most people say it won't work, they usually will go out of their way to make it work.

I'd consider leaving my job and going to work for them if they did open up out here but I doubt they would pay me what I am getting now.
