Many of us have heard rumors about the Contemporary Resort and what might be happening on the 4th floor concourse. We know that the Contemporary has been undergoing much needed refurbishment and this is all probably due to the construction of the new north tower. I'm sure Disney wouldn't want a brand new tower but have a rather out dated main lobby and concourse.
While dining in the Concourse Steakhouse in Jan. 2008, our very friendly server mentioned that the restaurant will be moved downstairs. Chef Mickey's might be slightly expanded into the space where Steak is now. The biggest change is going to be the addition of a new quick service restaurant that will be managed by a non-Disney company and located on the site of the Concourse Steakhouse. This non-Disney contractor bargained for a minimum square footage requirement on the 4th floor, forcing the movement of the steakhouse downstairs. At this time, it's possible that there might not be any expansion of Chef Mickey's for this reason.
So we'll see. I have the feeling that Disney is expanding their counter service restaurant because of the addition of the north tower. It will be interesting to see if the new tower will have any quick service or counter service restaurants or if Disney will just have guests use the main building.![]()
I heard differently...I heard that the Concourse was moving to the new North Tower once its built, and that a resturaunt called The Wave or something was going to be somewhere in the main tower (Either downstairs or the 4th floor). Is The Wave the resturaunt being created by the outside company?
I guess the staff would know better than I would, but I was just wondering if anyone had heard the same as me.

107 days 18 hours 5 minutes until I go to the Contemparery.![]()
The Concourse Steakhouse is being shut down permanently, and being replaced with a counter-service style restaurant...
From Allears.net -The Concourse Steakhouse is scheduled to close for good beginning May 11, 2008 (May 10th is the last day of dining). The area will be rehabbed into a new permanent quick service restaurant, which will open in fall 2008.
I heard that the restaurant would be closed permanently and not relocated to anywhere.
Upcoming Trips to WDW:
Dec 6-10: Disney Wonder
Dec 10-19: Port Orleans French Quarter
It better reopen! I love the Concourse Steakhouse! It's a nice change in pace and has great food!

I hope the Concourse isn't closing for good! They had amazing food, and when I went in July '07 we had the most amazing waiter! Great service there, that's for sure.
I went to the Turf Club while I stayed in S.S. in July and we had terrible service! Cold food, bad staff, and they overcharged us on our dining plan! (The complete opposite of Concourse, how strange!) I hope you have better luck there than I did!
Hmm, strange. I've been to it twice and it was good service and good food. I'm not saying you're wrong but it can happen over time because Alfredo's wasn't as good as when my parents took me in March 07 to when my parents went with my brother back in May 06. Also the two times I went to it, the first time it was soft opening and the second time was on a Tuesday right before or after college's spring breaks so there might have been a full boat of guests to tend to as well.

I agree, sometimes it's a hit or miss with restaurants. We had a large party and (from what we assume) a new server who was probably a little intimidated! I'm glad you had a good time, and I wouldn't mind trying it again and getting a better view of the restaurant, I thought it was really pretty! =D
I personally would not be upset if they closed the Concourse Steakhouse. It was the only restaurant at Disney World that we didn't enjoy. We were there on Thanksgiving night 2007 and our waiter was snooty. He consistently made mistakes with our orders and forgot to bring us items we requested. It started the moment he realized we were on the dining plan. All other restaurants, including Chef Mickey's next door were extremely polite, helpful and prompt with their service.
