    Lightbulb Ride Ideas

Post all your ideas for rides here! Here's mine.

    STAR TOURS REFURB?

I've been hearing rumors that Star Tours at Disney's Hollywood Studios will get a refurb. Here's my idea. Hopefully, it won't center around The Phantom Menace. Don't get me wrong. My opinion on that episode? Love it. But look at the critics comparing TPM to other classic episodes. If they turned it into The Phantom Menace, popularity of the ride would sink.

My guess is the ride will go deeper into the Original Star Wars storyline. Rex could possibly make a cameo in the queue, but an animatronic Luke Skywalker will fly this ship. Is he still doing a tour? Well....Yes and no. You guys are new pilots. Luke is sent on 2 missions: to destroy the Dreaded Death Star, and to show you how the ship works. The ride gets hectic when Ol' Vader pops up.

After the ride, guests will see a theater presentation about the History of Star Wars. (Don't worry...if Grandpa snoozes throughout, he can leave the theater.) The exiting queue has animatronic Ewoks celebrating the defeat of the Empire.

    Pretty cool, huh?

Feel free to post all of your ideas here.

    Sounds okay.

I just hope that if they actually update the ride some that they don't key it up too much. I have a mild heart condition that enables me to ride some of the more intense attractions (original Mission Space, Rockin' Roller Coaster. Tower of Terror, ect.). The Studios is a pretty big pain for me since it has the most attractions that I can't do. I just don't want to have to add another one to the list of "forbidden attractions".
    Upcoming Trips to WDW:

    Dec 6-10: Disney Wonder
Dec 10-19: Port Orleans French Quarter

When the Imagineers were originally pitching their ideas for a Star Wars themed ride, he immediately nixed any use of or reference to Darth Vader. Mainly because he felt that whole story or Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader was that he really wasn't a villain. He didn't want him portrayed that way outside of the films.

I do hope we get a new Star Tours attraction. Something fun and exciting for the whole family to enjoy.

I really don't care what they do to the ride... as long as it's changed!!! It's getting really old and I don't like to ride it anymore

George Lucas anounced that they are planning to convert to 3-D. that would be cool. 3-D seems to be the new thing at Disney Hollywood Studios.

That would be interesting, especially with the updated technology which could probably make it insanely convincing. Going along with this, I think the Muppet Vision 3D needs an update or something. I'm getting sick of that one a little bit. That and HISTA in epcot. They just seem a little outdated to me.

How about staying true to Star Tours as it is now but modernized. This would be trips to 6 NEW locations and not the Endor Express we have all taken that doesn't even take us there. How about the Tattooine and Hoth trips mentioned in the 1st pre-show scene and then throw in Coruscant, Naboo, Dagobah and Yavin IV for good measure. Each of the six trips have different parts and is randomized instead of one single trip you need to go into Star Tours headquarters six times to experience everything of Star Tours (2). The technology is there, Tower of Terror and Indiana Jones: Temple of the Forbidden Eye both have this.

BTW: HISTA could leave and I wouldn't care but the muppets are timeless IMO.

That is true. If they take out HISTA all together that would be fine, but I would like to see it replaced with something nice. The muppets are cool, but I'm just sick of that show. I don't know if they really could update it, but I think it would be cool to see. Maybe I wasn't the biggest muppets fan growing up. I don't remember that well, but who knows?

I liked Honey I Shrunk The Kids and Honey I Blew Up The Kid but Honey I Shrunk The Audience is played out. I don't know what could move in there but there has to be a good enough idea to replace it.

That is true, but I'm sure there could be something better there. Not even necessarily a 3D show, but just something more with the times.

I tjink the main reason why they are keeping it in there is that Epcot has the 3-D glasses cleaning space for all four parks and soon, all five attractions with Toy Story Mania coming in very, very soon.

Oh I didn't even know that! That's a good point, then cuz that could be a vaild reason why they haven't done anything with that.
