Figment...Gone?

I put this in Rumors cause I don't want it to be true. Someone please tell me it's not true.

ANOTHER CLOSING, ANOTHER SHOW

The Ides Of March was not only Caesar’s downfall; in 2008 it marked the end of “FIGMENT’S PLACE”. On Saturday March 15, 2008 the meet-and-greet area FIGMENT’S PLACE had its final visitors.

This show was closed to focus character encounters (sans FIGMENT) in FutureWorld to the Innoventions West Character Spot.

To add insult to injury, the walkaround FIGMENT (we know, the Epcot ‘mascot’) has also been discontinued!

I keep reading it on other sites and I am simply stunned. One place did say it may be just until the summer, but I need to know what's happening.

This puts a dark cloud over my upcoming trip.

Now I know some people, even ones who "get it", may find this to be an overreaction. After all, the ride still has Figment, and he is just a Character, much like in his previous version with the Dreamfinder. But Figment is the mascot of EPCOT. On many pins and posters, he stands right next to Mickey. They're even releasing a new limited edition figurine on April 26. (http://www.register123.com/event/pro...4&varPage=home)

To me, this is like removing Goofy. Figment isn't just a character, he's part of the fabric/themeing/atmosphere of the park. Even if you don't want to meet him and get your picture taken (and boy are you missing out), just knowing he's around is part of what makes EPCOT so special.

I'm gonna get lynched for this, but honestly I had no idea there even *was* a meet-and-greet with Figment. Where was it?

It was where the Kodak store was next to the leaping fountain at Journey Pavilion

It is true. Figment's last day was March 15th, 2008.

Figment's Place has already been started to be dismantled. However, the character meet and greet will show up on the map for awhile.

You can no longer meet Figment. Although you can see him in Journey Into Imagination with Figment.

He was brought back last time due to guests writing letters and emails and complaining, so if you want to see him brought back... start writing!

Why is it that if it doesn't correlate with a Movie it needs to go...

19 and 15 years ago Figment was my children's happiest memories of Epcot.
They were toddlers at the time, can't tell you the amount of Figment merchandise we purchased, he was love-able and didn't need a movie or TV show to make his character popular.

Little is left of the Future World I took my children to.

I just got back from WDW yesterday, and the days I spent at EPCOT, I was wondering why I didn't see Figment out where you can usually meet him, little did I know...

Makes you wonder just what Disney is thinking. Perhaps if enough of us complain, they'll bring him back. Or maybe he's just moving to a character meal?

I contacted everyone I know, and I did learn some things, most of which I am not allowed to discuss.

Figment the walk around chracter as we know him is gone...for now.

Let's just look at it this way...he's going back into the vault and will be used to help fight a certain wizard invading Orlando.

That has to be a sin for Epcot, to get rid of Figment of all characters! I really hope he doesn't leave for good, Epcot wouldn't be the same without him.

Although I'm a great fan of 'the wizard invading Orlando', I'm sad to see Figment get 'put away' for a while. He's...just irresistible, you know? :::One little spark, of inspiration...:::
