Disney buying back Disney store?

Thank the Lord! I remember when we used to be able to get watches, nicer pins, more adult clothes, the HUGE Disney plushes were almost always there, and the Disney stores were ALOT nicer!
I personally was OK with the new store design, but when i saw that the store in Myrtle beach was the exact same as the store here, i wasn't very happy. Even though the stores were kinda similar before, they were never this generic! Sure, the big sorcerer mickey and princess section is cool, but i really think they need to bring back more of the old stores with characters all around, and alot "cooler" things like i remember how they used to have this scafolding (sp?) with disney chrarcters hanging from there. I also miss the Big round displays with the pins and little toys. now you have the buckets around mickey with a selection of... maybe 8 different toys? The old stores had alot more creative displays and it was more like a DISNEY store, not a regular store. like i said, i enjoyed the big mickey and the lights on the ceiling, and the winnie the pooh section with the screen was cute, but that shouldn't be the generic store. They closed a Disney Store (old one) within 5 miles of me, and the closed it when TCP bought DS. I was told by the cast there that that was one of the biggest stores around! There were always disney characters all moving around, and peaking out from everywhere lining the ceiling (not Meet and greet characters LOL) and you just felt almost like you were in DTD!

Oh well i guess we need to hope for the best

It is very confusing, especially since the "closing" list is "Annex G: USA Remaining Stores Schedule" - it's not the stores 'remaining' open, it's the list of leases that are 'remaining' after they take over the ones they want.

Let me see if I can post the closing list like Amanda did the staying open list.

This is good news, indeed. My son and daughter-in-law and I were just talking about Disney possibly buying back the stores when we were at Disneyland on April 12. I am very happy and hope the remaining stores regain the Disney magic they had before the sale to CP. I also agree that they need to bring back Disney Catalog.

The not-so-good news...the one and only Disney Store left in Austin is slated to close However, it looks like the Disney Outlet Stores in Round Rock and San Marcos will remain open as well as a couple of San Antonio stores.

Unfortunetly the store that I work at is on the closing list, but everyone that works at my location is pretty hesitant about this list. We find it kind of hard to believe that certain stores are staying open over others, and we're hoping that the list change at some point.

Also, I'm not sure if there are any other store cast members reading this thread, but is anyone aware of what kind of benefits the cast members will get once Disney takes over? This is what everyone talks about at work lol.

Unfortunately the Disney Stores have just lost a lot of customers here. The store that is 10 minutes away (Mishawaka, Indiana) is being closed. I absolutely refuse to drive 2 hours to go to one of 3 stores that are open. There are at least 9 people I know after just telling them today that will no longer purchase anything from the Disney store. Not even online if they don't care enough to keep ours open. The only place I will buy something is if I go to WDW itself. If they don't care about me at a guest then I don't care to drive and shop there.

Also, I know there has been a lot of discussion about the quality of merchandise in disney stores, I really think that the summer stuff is pretty cool. The adult shirts are the best they have been in a LONG time (very cute Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Tinkerbell, Snow White shirts), and we have some decent looking dresses too. I'm also assuming that most stores will be start to get newer merchandise after May 1 so it might be something to look forward to

I'm between 3 stores. One survived on the list. One of the ones going good-bye was by far the nicest but nobody was ever in it, so it stands to reason. The one that did survive is in a mall with the Maiden DVC sales center so I understand why they would keep the retail store there.

Just can't wait for them to Fix the stores. The presently remind me of a
"dollar store".

the only one near me is closing and the one scheduled to open in June at the Prime Outlets Williamsburg is also on the chopping block!! now I will have to go all the way VA beach to buy my Disney Tickets not unless I buy them from WDW. The one in Tyson's square and Roanoke is staying open
