The only updates I've heard about IASW was about the one in Disney Land in Cali; and that was that they were making the ride deeper so that the boats wouldn't scrape the bottom. Guess we all put on a few lbs over the years!

ok so i saw this on tmz which is certainly not a reliable website by any means...however, i was wondering if anyone had heard of additions to IASW? tmz claims they are adding abu to the middle eastern room and stitch to the polynesian room...not sure if it's at DL or WDW...just wondering if anyone had heard of something like this happening?

I've heard that they are adding characters (I think Abu, Nemo, and Stitch) to the one at Disneyland. Personally, I hope they stay in Disneyland but I haven't heard anything about the changes coming to WDW.

I wish this wouldn't happen to such a cherished attraction as It's a Small World. This attraction is loved by everybody just as it is, and it should be kept as it is. It just wouldn't be the same with these additions.![]()
Keep it cool, and keep moving forward!
Trips to Walt Disney World
1995: Port Orleans French Quarter - 2000: All-Star Music
2008: Caribbean Beach - 2009: Pop Century
NEXT TRIP: Sep/Oct 2011 - WDW's 40th Anniversary!
First Pixar invades the parks, now they're taking over classic Disney attractions. I thought it was Disney that took over Pixar, not the other way around.

mattj:
Abu and Stitch aren't Pixar characters.
That doesn't make much sense to add these characters to the ride--it's certainly not going to bring in any more people. Besides, Small World is already a cult attraction; there shouldn't be any need to bring them in.
God I hope they NEVER do this. I will stop riding it. I am of the mind set that certain attractions, namely the ones Walt Disney himself imagineered, or had a part in imagineering, should remain as he intended them too. Sure, upgrade for better technology for a better experience...Walt would have done that...but dont change or add things on the whims of trends....Like the God awful travesty that is now the Pirates of the Carribean

Yup, I read this as well, though not on TMZ. The change will supposedly be at Disneyland. I read about it, and the reaction from the Blair family, at Re-Imagineering . :[
Don't listen to MiceAge, Re-Imagineering, etc. The character-related changes at IaSW are only RUMORS, so please chill out.
Disney characters are only going to be included in Hong Kong Disneyland's version of the attraction, which opens next month.
I would think Stitch in IASW would be...odd, to say the least. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with this. Of course, I'm also leery about most things having to do with Stitch. I was a huge fan of Alien Encounter, and I think Stitch's Great Escape is...well, nothing at all to write home about.
I'm not too crazy about the new (or "updated") Pirates myself. It's ok, but just ok (to me).
Since were on a Pirate tirade:
I would be completely ok (just ok) with the "upgraded" PotC if it wasn't for the last scene. I loved the old scene with the gunfighting and all. Now it's kind of dull with Jack in it. Also, to me, it seems like they took out some little things through out the attraction. I could just be thinking that, but I really do thing they did.

Yeah I remember that now. Good, somebody else remembers so I guess I'm not completely crazy. At least the hairly leg is still there!
