2006 is its projected opening date.

From the info I got while at AK a few weeks ago, Spring 2006 is the scheduled opening. It's going to be a much larger version of the Matterhorn from DL with a yeti apperance. From it's position in the park it looks like it's going to be the center piece of the new asia section when it's complete. Her is a link to a bunch of construction photos.

This ride looks great. When i went in December I saw them building it. It looks like they may be finished later this year but they say spring 2006. I can't wait.:thumbs: :mickeykid
It also suppose to be the tallest Mountain in the state Flordia and it also has airplane lights on tops
It will not have airplane warning lights. EE as well as TOT have deliberately been built to a height of 199 feet. At 200 feet Disney would be required to install airplane warning lights but the imaginers felt this would take away from the theme so both rides heights were limited to 199 feet in height. To my knowledge the only structure at WDW that has airplane warning lights on it is the wand on SE.Quote:

The height of the attraction is said to be nearly 200 feet. This is probably referring to the height of the mountain and not the height of the track contained within.
The Expedition Everest will be the first ride to use Vekoma's newest track system. Rather than the rails be on the inside of the ties, they will be on the outside. To date Vekoma has only used this system on their smaller roller coasters. This will be the first large scale installation of such a system.

The only structure in the parks, yes. However, there are FAA lights on the Swan, the Dolphin and the Contemporary. The Contemporary isn't 200 feet tall, but it's in the flight path of the old STOLport and close enough that it still needs the lights.Quote:
