Although I've seen the statutes of the Finding Nemo characters in front of the Living Seas pavilion, (and have heard rumors about a possible conversion for years)... does anyone know if the oh-so-dated pavilion with not very much to see or do is actulaly going to close anytime soon? If so, what type of attraction would (or should) they put there?

I for one do not want to see Living Seas getting a lightly themed Nemo overhaul. I think the story is too strong to waste on just a themed aquarium.

I would like to see 20k leagues turned into a strong Finding Nemo ride. Where the kids would ride through the ocean (and story) all the while playing a big game of Where's Nemo (like wheres waldo).

I agree with you, Adam...

I don't want the beautiful Living Seas pavilion and tank turned into yet another movie-themed (read that as "merchandise-friendly") attraction. Not only will it lose the spirit of what Epcot was supposed to be about (well, at least not Walt's vision anyway), but will turn the efforts to educate about undersea life and its realtionship to us into a character-themed circus.

However, sad that I was to see 20K go, they should do something with that areas. The MK, and specifically Fantasyland, are best suited for a movie-based attraction, and Nemo would be a perfect fit. Kids love it, you already have the lagoon, as well as ample queue space (sort of).

I would have to agree that Mr. Disney's idea of EPCOT would probably not include a movie based theme ride, I think it would be OK to use Nemo as say a tour quide.

In other words it was Mr. Disney's idea to educate AND entertain, so why not let Nemo be your guide to the vast underwater world.

If Nemo were to become a ride why not use 20k Under or build something from scratch?? How about a cross between Rockin Roller Coaster and The Living Seas? I would love to take the turtle scene and turn it into a coaster.......and I also think it would fit perfectly in AK!

okay -- so my mom (of all people) and I were discussing this nemo thing - and she said the same thing - I think a similar ride to Spiderman at Islands of Adventure - you are nemo and your car goes through all the different things that he does in the ocean - including maybe even getting caught by the diver and put in a fish tank - could be pretty cool -- and you definitly have to have the Turtles in there and even if your not on a "rollercoaster" the ride would make you feel like you were.

Rumor has it the Sea Cabs are being refitted to be used in a new attraction... There is supposedly a lot of activity at the LS pavilion as of late.... Interesting.

Well I hadn't visited the LS since the Nemo retrofit of sorts. Finally did this week. I give it a -decent- rating. I was not looking forward to seeing the movie take over what was already there. They actually did a pretty good job of fitting the characters and ideas into the LS. THey did not completely take over the building, just the smaller tanks and stuff in the side rooms. They also have the characters talking about themselves and their habitat. It was much better than I anticapted.

When i was there, they just had some statues outside the building. have they added anything else to the inside? are they ever going to make the old ride a Nemo ride?

I have heard rumblings that this is only the beginning of the "remodel" or whatever you want to call it, and that more updates were coming. I don't know what they will be or when though.

ok, nevermind. i just read a new update saying that the refurb of LS is currently on hold and not moving forward right now. not sure what the story there is.

someone told me that disney bought the rights to harry potter and are making a new ride based on the movies that will open when the last film is released. is that true or was he thinking of univseral studios?

Yep I heard DIsney got Harry as well. I thought it was kind of funny for Disney to have him.

That could be a really cool attraction though.

A "flying" attraction along the lines of star tours based on quiddich would be fun!!!

Any other ideas on types of attractions that would be good for Harry?
