On another forum we were just discussing one of the theme elements sitting exposed to the elements over by one of the buildings. It appears to be a replica of a classic Buck Rogers rocketship, which would place it in 20s (comic first published in 1928) or 30s (first serial with Buster Crabbe was in 1939). So it seems that they had plenty of theming in mind.

I think from the 20's on they can. I do say that they would need to rebrand the All-Star Movies Resort if that does happen because about a half of the movies are Disney Animated movies.

Wow, I never knew they had that much of the construction done. I thought that just the buildings were constructed, and nothing else. I really hope they finish these buildings eventually. I'd love to stay in them and I think they would add a lot to the Resort.

I wouldn't say that much was done. Two room buildings and the main building were put up. Concrete slabs and conduits for some more. But it appears some theme elements may have been in some state of completion and left on property when everything was put on hold.

I do not trust what Jim Hill says sometimes so i don't believe that disney would do that to one of there coolest hotels. If it was one of the least popular All Star resorts then why is it most of time my family goes done to florida to see a friend it is always booked??

Re: Pop Century be rebranded as Disney's Animation Inn and Suites

I'll be glad to see that they don't follow through with the Legendary Years building... part of the appeal for Pop is the nostalgia for guests, but, not to be too morbid or anything, as just a little time goes on, all the grandparents who would enjoy those pre-50's decades, will no longer be around for a Disney vacation.

I do like the thoughts of more family suites, but as was previously stated, I believe they'd have to be different from the All-Star Music suites... perhaps two double beds in one room and a sleeper sofa &/or chair in the other? Or a double, bunk beds, and a sleeper sofa... more actual beds. Otherwise it gets too tricky with larger groups and it's still just easier to book adjoining regular rooms for larger families.

As for theming... animation might work... not that I've been to the All-Star Movie resort, but I view that as a Hollywood type thing... more of a completed movie thing. Perhaps, although similar, Animation Inn & Suites(at least the portion previously known as Legendary Years) could be more of the process of making classic movies... sketches and story boards... and more Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto characters too.

I feel like, very often, parts of Disney World forget about these original characters... I just feel like they really need a resort that's screaming Mickey! Wouldn't that type of resort fill up even more than the All-Stars???

Re: Pop Century be rebranded as Disney's Animation Inn and Suites

I like pop Century but it was really poorly thought of theming. I would never stay at one of the other economy resorts while the pop was by itself though since it makes bus transportation much easier most of the time

Re: Pop Century be rebranded as Disney's Animation Inn and Suites

I wonder if just the unbuilt building will be the Animation Inn and Suites. I can't see them ripping out all the giant things that were built at Pop, especially since it's so popular - not like it's hurting for guests.
