Last Lap For Test Track?

Saw this on the internet this morning and in our local news at noon. Thought other people might like to read it and comment/discuss what you think.

Oh no!!! That would be so sad if GM had to pull out - they have been the sponsor since it was World of Motion and are such a part of that pavillion. I really like how it is sponsored by an American co, and it just would not be the same if a foreign automaker took it over...or worse - what would happen if they couldn't find a sponsor at all!?

Do they really need a sponsor? People aren't riding it for the GM name. I don't think they need GM.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a new car company come in. Maybe the government can help out.

Ohiodisneydad, I don't think they need a sponsor for people to want to ride, but they need a sponsor for the $$ to maintain it!

I thought there were rumors dating back a few years ago that Toyota was taking the sponsorship from GM.

I mean right now I don't see any car company taking the sponsorship but when it comes back, you never know.

If it closes, can we have Horzons back? Assuming a company will sponsor Horizons. I think it is tough for any company under media scrutiny to sponsor an attraction if they were part of the bailout.

Yeah look at Citifield in New York. They lost their naming rights for the New York Mets' new ballpark.

As for Horizons coming back, I doubt it. I'd want World of Motion back but that isn't happening either. Test Track is popular so that ride is not changing anytime soon even though the costs of running it are higher than normal rides with the tires and that.

I think whether GM pulld out or someone took over the ride, Disney would have to find a way to keep it intact the way it is. I would LOVE to see GM stay the sposor, but I think that would be really irresposible of them since their first priority is the workers. And as far as bringin back old attractions, I know that Disney would not want to do that. I mean Walt himself said that the park would never be finished. That it would continue to grow and evolve. I just wish it world evolve in the World Showcase side. A new country or two would really make a difference.

Test Track is not going anywhere. Disney will do anything to keep that popular attraction going. Why don't Disney see if NASCAR, Goodyear, Firestone or Bridgestone want to take a sponsorship if Ford or Toyota don't want it when GM can't agree to terms.
