My brother and I was talking about Disney World (like we always do) when out of no where he told me that he read that there was gonna be no more ToonTown. That they are gonna remove it and rebuild it as part of Fantasyland.

Anyone know if this is true or not?

I hope it's not true. I want to go to Pixie Hollow and I was just getting over my stupid fear of the charaters.

That's what the rumors are, BUT, good news for you, Pixie Hollow is going to be part of the expanded Fantasyland. There is supposed to be "dueling Dumbos" also.

Wonder when construction will begin on that? What will happen to the Toontown homes? Any rumors about making WDW's Toontown more like DL's?

It certainly looks frm "leaked plans" on the internet tht toontown will be no more (just type in WDW new fantasyland into google) Although pixie hollow is staying the whole town, except the barnstormer will be gone.

Rumours are it could start as early as October!

From the plans, I just can't figure out where they are getting all that additional space. They are really going to have to build waaaaaay over the main entrance to the tunnels is what it looks like to me.

I'm nt so sure. They seem to be building on top of Toontown and also the old space of20000 leagues, and probably a bit of staff car parking

Yes, the plans are building out over the 20k lagoon space (which was filled in a few years ago), and some of the empty space behind there.

Now, we have no idea what state those plans were in, although they do appear to be real at some level. They could have been close to "blue sky" (the term for boardroom discussions or random ideas where the likelihood of any happening is small) that got as far as plans being drawn, to something going up for funding, to actual greenlight plans waiting for implementation.

They do appear to be real though.

Machinery has already been brought in and some clearing is going on. Some of this can be seen from the WDW Railroad.

I think we need to be very careful and NOT just assume that any work taking place in and around Fantasyland has to do with this supposed expansion. Disney is doing maintenance ALL the time. It could be general maintenance work that's going on right now, which would have nothing to do with any expansion.

Remember, there is not one word from Disney on this supposed expansion. This could be a hoax or it could be just a concept drawing (which is my bet) for some possible ways to utilize some of the space behind the current Fantasyland. I agree, this expansion would be awesome -- but we need to be careful and not jump to the conclusion that construction is underway already (or even soon).
