NEWS!!IllumiNations Reflections of Earth is closing for good August 30.


IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth is a fireworks show, performed nightly at Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. It premiered on October 1, 1999 as IllumiNations 2000: Reflections of Earth as part of the Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration; it was so successful that after the celebration ended the 2000 was dropped from the name and the show was continued. It was previously presented by General Electric, and now Siemens, at a cost of approximately US$17,000 per show. The Show Will Be Closed on August 30, 2009 and will replaced by DisneySea Symphony (Formerly from Tokyo DisneySea from 2001-2004) Which Shows on September 30, 2009.

Sadly, I wouldnt be surprised if this was the case cause it's been around for sometime now. I think I remember Lou mentioning this as a possibility a while back...sad if it's true

Just great! Aside from the fireworks at the Castle this is the one show that we were going to be able to see during our next trip. It's also the only one we haven't seen yet and we were really looking forward to seeing it.

Illuminations is still all over September in the official calendar...if they were actually changing it that soon, it would have never been in the calendar in the first place.

Then again, LWTL closed rather abruptly.

Didn't the globe just get a high-tech upgrade recently too?

I hope that this is just a rumour. Illuminations is my favorite night time spectacular at WDW, and I would hate to see it go.
I visit a number of other WDW related sites and haven't seen any info regarding this.
