New Disney Races

As many of you know, Disney is getting rid of the Tower or Terror 13K and the Race for the Taste 10K after this year. I got an e-mail a few months ago telling me that an announcement of a new race (or races) would come sometime in October, but I can't find the e-mail. Does anyone know the date of that announcement? Also, any speculation of what the races might be?? Thanks guys!!

The info I had said October 15 at 3:00pm is when they will announce the new race or races. I can't wait to here what it will be!

Thanks a lot! Me either, I'm disappointed they are getting rid of the young Tower of Terror race but I'm sure they have a great race or two planned! Looking forward to hearing what it will be.

Since EEC is moving to June and the other two fall races are being retired, I think they are going to come out with a Fall 1/2 Marathon as a warm-up to January's Marathon. JMO

Thats a possibility...but with the Princess and the regular half, and the loss of two shorter distance races, it seems like they are going to have to pick it up in the middle-long distance race. I see them coming out with something new and exciting since they are getting rid of some pretty good races

My reasoning for a longer distance race is that the shorter distance ones have not been selling well. The EEC didn't sell out until just before the race. With a max capacity of 1500 teams, I'm guessing it was a money loser for Disney

My husband is starting to run races. He wanted to know how much it costs for half marathons. I have looked around and not found out this answer.

I just listened to the most recent podcast and did not realize how many 5ks there are.
Do you know the cost for those?

I would love to see some type of Haunted Mansion race. And I hope the new fall one is not a 1/2 marathon. I like doing these Disney races but I'm tired of doing 1/2 marathons. I'm not a runner so a nice 10k would be fine by me.

That is a cool idea Lori! I would like other races based around attractions too. Think of all of the possibilities, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Pirates, etc. I like the half marathon for some of the races, but the 10-15K distance is doable without a ton of training.

The half marathons at Disney are $120.00 now I think..... The 5K's and other races are all different prices depending on the race and what you get with the race.
If you google "Disney Endurance" you should be able to get the site with all of that info on it.
