The video you saw is a fake version someone made to emulate the one described. If there is a real version I don't think any of us will ever see it.

The "recreated" video was nothing special. A crappy black and white looped animation looked at through glasses with the wrong prescription and a perhaps a little LSD, and more and more out of focus with an occasional close up of the head. The sound is more annoying than anything else.

I work nights and at 4:04 am it is VERY quiet and eerie here ANYWAY and that story just freaked me out to no end. I even clicked the video and got about 10 seconds in before I stopped it because I was so on edge......

The sound can be creepy, but I wonder if what REALLY makes it creepy is the story...

I'm 99.99999999% positive that this is just another urban legend. There have been stories about films that drive people crazy for a very long time.

A very similar true story is the tale behind the ballet "the Rite of Spring" by Igor Stravinsky (popularized in the dinosaur segment of Fantasia). The ballet was so primal and shocking that it sent the audience into fits of hysteria, which erupted into riots in the streets of Paris.

The story of the work of art that is so provocative that it spurs the audience into unconscious action is one that has captured the human imagination for years, and is something that many artists aspire to, but very few ever achieve. I wonder what the Russian appearing text at teh end is. I also wonder why tehre appears to be skulls on teh bottom of the page-in the dark area, and around minute 5:50, there seems to be a giant Panda bear behind the chaos on the screen.

None of that was frightening, but it was 7 minutes of my life watching a repetitive loop of the exact same buildings and then the same waves, and then a black screen.
