D23 2nd Expo!

Walt Disney Co. used the inaugural expo of its D23 fan club last summer to unveil several new theme-park projects, most notably its "Fantasy Forest" expansion in the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland.

Now, Disney has set a date for its next D23 Expo — but it won't be until next year.

Disney made the announcement last week, during its annual shareholders meeting in San Antonio. The second D23 Expo will be staged Aug. 19-21 2011, once again in Anaheim, Calif. The company will hold a smaller event focused on Disneyland's history this year instead of a full-blown fan convention this year.

While the company has disappointed many fans by opting not make the Expo an annual event, Disney Co. Chief Bob Iger vowed at the meeting that 2011 edition will be "even bigger and better" than the original.

This is going to be an exciting event next year! And welcome to the forums!

Can't wait for the 2nd Expo. The first was amazing, so the second I'm sure will be great too.

Did I hear correctly that there is a special D23 Charter Year (And continuing member) lounge?

I plan to go to the expo in 2011. Maybe that will finally get me to join D23. (So far I have not seen a great reason to join :) )
