That is pretty interesting. When the initial plans came out, I thought the DS's had been left out. It would be nice to have something added for the boys.
One thing that all 5 to 10 year old boys love, but noone else, is Stitch. Stitch is my son's favorite, but every attraction and show featuring Stitch has been painful for anyone who is not a young boy.
Since it's Jim Hill I'm gonna be skeptical of it
Hey, I like Stitch but I'm still 5 years old at heart. But I do think Stitch is a perfect example of how Disney overdoes it. Stitch was popular for a while and Disney overmilked that cash-cow. Maybe the under performance of The Princess and the Frog told Disney something.
I agree that the Princesses are becoming too much of the focal point. I have three girls and they love the princesses but boys need something too. Some darkride in the new Fantasyland should be more male oriented. This is the time to change plans to include those male oriented rides.
i was about to say, all this girl centered stuff isnt going to counter-act harry potter. a guy-friendly attraction would be awesome.
also, am i the only one who think pixie hollow is a bad idea? i mean, nobodys going to watch this "faries" franchise except 5 year old girls, and its a bit too ambitious to make a land off of a concept thats yet to be launched. i just really hope they rethink that area. its going to be such a waste of money, and its not going to attract people away from harry. they should put a major e-ticket attraction in instead
i think it is heavy on the princesses.. although i really like the ariel ride idea :) and i like the thought of meetin tinkerbell.. i really do think some boyish things need to be added in.. boys wanna meet peter pan and would like to do pics with jack sparrow and woody and buzz and dinning with them as well.. so why another princess dinning.. not that i dont like the idea.. but give the guys a break and give them something to do
I agree, most of the dining options are geared around girls or younger kids. Not all, but most. I think a Toy Story theme character dining option would be great in DHS. And why should all character dining options be buffets? Why not have Pinocchio show up at the restaurant that bears his name? Disney has so much rich history they could tap into. And they have the resources too.
When was the last time an e-ticket thrill ride was opened in MK? A villains' mountain through a dark forest would be AWESOME!
I agree. MK needs some attention and I mean outside of the Princess mold too. I'm still of the opinion that MK content should be restricted to classic Disney attractions or newer Disney ones as opposed to Pixar or now Marvel. Those belong in DHS. Hire me, I'm ready to restructure the park!
I think they should put more "boyish" stuff in MK. All their hopes are up and when they get there they go, "oh, disney is all about princesses"
they need some balance... what makes HP so popular is it is gender balanced already... it makes Universal look like genius's when we know it is Rowling and Rowling alone... Disney needs to put its eggs in many baskets... maybe tone down the fantasyland expansion and expand frontierland and tommorowland... maybe a little Woody and Buzz... male oriented to balance out fantasyland...
I actually heard something similar via a different channel, and although I'm still skeptical, Hill actually has a lot of good points. And this wouldn't be the first time Disney pulled back on a project after starting it...
disney used to be good at timeless attractions...ones where both sexes liked them Mr. Toad, 20,000 L , If you had Wings,
why can't they do that anymore?
those minds and imagineers are no longer around... they either sadly passed or are now retired...
