I know It might be a quick fix, but I REALLY hate to see this happen at WDW. Yes, they could do it better, but it's already been done. Why not expand Disneyland's Matterhorn section? Please. Come up with something completely new. We don't need the same exact things in both parks! There are plenty of amazing and wonderful ideas that could work... especially with the fantasy forest concept. We can have swiss villages... anything. But not the matterhorn... We need to diversify. challenge. Instead of doing the same thing, and doing it better, do something better, and totally different, that would serve the same purpose. Isn't that how we advance?
I don't know, it looks like they're taking Disneyland's Matterhorn and plussing it for Magic Kingdom. There are other things I'd rather see happen but this isn't such a bad thing to me
No no no! Keep Matterhorn at DL ONLY!
I liked this idea someone commented on the article
I would TOTALLY be for that. Well, not the one on Bringing back Toad. Some things should stay deadQuote:
"It's really a no brainer. This is the best bang for your buck, Imagineering, so pay attention to Uncle Hoot.
The best way to expand our Fantasyland would go like this: (west to east)
1. Pinocchio dark ride as close as possible to the village house. East coast needs this ride. Tooling exists. Build it.
2. Next, across from pooh, a brand new Mr Toad's Wild Ride. Hype it to the locals because we miss Toad.
3. Alice in Wonderland right next to the tea cups. Tooling exists. Again East coast needs this ride.
4. BEHIND (North) this row of three new rides and shops, an Alpine Village (goodbye Toon Town) and the mighty Matterhorn. A big fat "E" ticket which was planned for our park originally in that very location. **** Nunis was quoted as saying that even the WDW Railroad would pass through it via Ice Cave.
5. Go ahead with Mermaid. It will still fit nicely up there.
That's five new rides, three dark rides and two "E" tickets. I'm willing to bet it would all cost less than Harry Potter-land.
FREE IDEA! TAKE IT!"
Now that would be a draw that could rival Harry Potter. Squeeze that in near or in TS Island and that would bring that area to life again.
Love day dreaming.
Where in the world would they build that? Looking at those plans, and knowing the space in Fantasyland (pre and post refurb - as per the design plans at least) I just don't see a spot for it. The land behind Fantasyland doesn't go very far before hitting a road and the old 20kl spot is certainly not big enough. Remember we're not just taking room for the coaster itself here but all the little stuff with it, queue lines, etc. I just don't see it happening. I kinda like the idea of having to travel to DL to ride the original anyway.
We have Mt.Everest...isn't that our Matterhorn?
i had heard that they were going to add a Switzerland Pavilion to the showcase, and put Matterhorn there...
It sounds like the intent is to make both parks exactly the same, which in the long run will hurt them. If that is true about Switzerland in Epcot, I could see another mountain ride there, at least that makes sense. Hope they don't try to squeeze it into Fantasyland.:faint:
I have never been to Disneyland so I never rode the Matterhorn but if it is a fun ride, why not bring it to Florida. WDW and all the other Disneylands share major attractions but have different versions. Why should Matterhorn be the exception?
