I do miss AC, especially now that my kids are finally old enough to go........
I would love to see the Adveturers Club replace RF Cafe in front of DAK myself
make it an eatery

Corless posted a pic of the Splitsville facade earlier today.
Looks JUST like the old Virgin Megastore facade. Red background, with stylized white cursive lettering...
Very odd...

On the upside, Splitsville has bars, 5 of them.

Dedication party though not finished yet. Splitsville should open December 19th to guests. Only 30 bowling lanes but will take reservations.

I'd have to think the draw there will be more locally. I don't mind bowling, but it's about the last thing I'd be looking to do on a WDW vacation...

Now this room in Splitsville surprises me. When crowded and a mix of locals and tourists, drinking late at night, it could be ripe for trouble as was Pleasure Island.

But one place will not make it like Pleasure Island was... They do need to get some of the traffic of people who want to have a good time... How are they doing it on the Boardwalk... There seems to be little problems there...

Disney learned it's lessons from DTD when they developed the Boardwalk. They didn't stick it on the fringes of property, made parking difficult, Disney transportation from DTD to Boardwalk at night is slow, they pretty much made it a challenge for locals. A $12 cover to Jelly Rolls helps too.
I stuck Splits in this thread 'cause I didn't want to start another thread, but I was thinking this isn't really Pleasure Island either, wasn't it West Side in its day?

umm... yeh it was... or is... I think... I must say though I do enjoy the Boardwalk...with Atlantic Dance and Jellyrolls as well as Kouzzina and ESPN it is eclectic and calm...

My last trip a few weeks ago caused an embarrassing mistake... Let me divulge...
My family was at Epcot, and we went to Via Napoli for an early dinner... Upon leaving we caught the end of (from afar) Whooping Goldberg's candlelight processional, and I thought a good idea to duck out by the International Gateway... Our plan was to go to DHS to see the Osborne lights... Let me add that my father does not do boats (which is a tremendous pain) so I came up with the idea of taking a bus from the Beach Club to DHS... Much to my dismay, they don't have a bus from there to DHS, only water taxis... We ended up having to walk completely around the Boardwalk, and then take the path alongside the creek to DHS... What a pain considering the reason I went that way was so that we could walk less... See how that worked out...
so we had a good look at the Boardwalk on this last trip without really planning on it...

Wow! He could never stay at the Universal Resort Hotels and use their transportation. Most are boat launches to a dock at City Walk. Those launches are very efficient.
My Dad other than a fishing row boat has yet to step on any boat after his time was up in occupied Japan and Korea. Never wanted to see a Boat or Ship again.
