Just read that Mickey's Toontown Fair will be closing at the end of February 11, 2011 to begin the next phase of the Fantasyland expansion project.
I'm gonna miss those houses. Wonder if I can get them moved to my yard.

I saw the same thing on WDW News Today. I have a soft spot for that area, times gone by when my children were young. Looking forward to the new area being completed. Toon was fine but the rest of Fantasyland was getting old and seedy-ish. It needed new life Disney gave toTomorrowland.
Noted that the powers to be are giving Tink the heave hoe and she will be landing in DHS. Further they are separating Tink from her posse and sending the balance of the girls to Epcot but the Fairies will be in time out until sometime in spring. Maybe playing with Duffy? HaHa that would be fitting.
The balance of the Toon friends will be allowed to stay popping up all around the MK until their home is ready on Main Street.
i dont know how i feel about the fab five... especially Mickey and Minnie having homes on Main Street... i would imagine their "official" homes wont be relocated... more like they will all end up in Exposition Hall or something like that... that will make Main Street a giant bottleneck i fear...
ok just read the post on WDW news today.... they are definitely going into the Exposition Hall... im a bit nervous about the crowds over there...
Didn't realize it was still open until I went on Wednesday. Nice to see everything still up, if only for one last time.
it's going to be sad to see Toontown Fair go, when I was younger I always looked forward to going back there (and if you went right at 10am when it opened, it was empty)...definitely an area that will be missed
and yes, the front of the park is going to become extremely crowded especially with parades, Tony's Town Square, and just the fact that it's the front of the park...since Mickey and Minnie will be at the front of the park, many people will decide to go there right when the park opens, and the lines will get insanely long and that whole Town Square area will just be packed
I never thought of the bottle neck. Sometimes you just wonder. And then wonder again about the "new Disney".
They just finished an extensive rehab of Exposition Hall to accommodate Mickey and Minnie - don't think any sort of bottleneck is going to be a problem
Finished? Must have been real recent. I was just there on Wednesday and Exposition Hall was closed off toward the back. The are also redoing the outside of the building. I took a photo of the painted screen front they are using for now.
Was unaware of the Exposition Hall rehab; that probably should ease things up a bit. Now I would just imagine that the lines right when the park opens and during mid-day crowds for pictures would just be extremely long; since it's in the front of the park.
I was there for the D23 Sip & Stroll and had my "one last chance" to see Toontown. I must say, I'm not sad to see it go. It's a fairly poorly laid out area and just seems to hold people in versus let people see the "home of the toons".
I have a friend that works for the Archives and he went in early one day and decided what they were going to keep before it was all destroyed. I don't know what they decided on saving.
