Good-bye Electrical, Hello Spectro, yet again.
MousePlanet is reporting:
…A new Walt Disney World souvenir book has apparently spilled the beans on an upcoming change at the Magic Kingdom. A photo of a float from the SpectroMagic parade is accompanied by a caption that reads in part: "(Note: The magic returns after the Main Street Electrical Parade revival ends its run.)" No word on when that changeover will take place yet.
Ack. This is why on my last trip I didn't watch the parade. Electrical is a Good parade as is Spectro however I wish they would develop new parades instead to just recycling.

BAH!!!
When we were there the last week of May 2010, the MSEP was supposed to start back up the following week, or something like that. So, I missed its return. Now it'll be gone before we get back down there!
Phooey...

I liked both of them and was glad my DD got to experience both as well.

Boo Spectro! Those clowns creep me out!

Re: Good-bye Electrical, Hello Spectro, yet again.
Having seen both it is hard to choose... But for me inhave seen MSEP each of the past 2 years... I'll be looking forward to seeing Spectro again...

Re: Good-bye Electrical, Hello Spectro, yet again.
I grew up with MSEP, so it's simply a nostalgia thing for me. And like I said, the only parade I ever really enjoyed. A bunch of floats wrapped in lights with this weird electronic music was really cool to me in the 70's.
Same thing when it comes to my preference for The Best Time of Your Life at the CoP.

Re: Good-bye Electrical, Hello Spectro, yet again.
Although it may be time for a new parade all together, I have to say I am SO happy that it looks like Spectro will be returning. Seeing it brings back memories of my trips as a child, and it always serves as one of my "I have arrived" moments. Don't care too much for MSEP.

Yeah, I'd say which ever one you remember as a child is the one you ended up liking the most.

Re: Good-bye Electrical, Hello Spectro, yet again.
I like them both, althought the whole parade viewing process has becomed marred with rude guests that disrespect others around them.

As has the entire park experience in general.

Yep, one of my all time favorites. It is on my real old record album, my first from WDW. Ironically my DD sang that song at her graduation from high school. I am not a weeper, but that song makes me melt.

I definitely prefer Spectro, and hope it comes back soon

Re: Good-bye Electrical, Hello Spectro, yet again.
Even though we had a thread on WDW's neglect, I am happy that the park keeps rotating out between their two main parades rather than implement a new one. I'd rather they switch out their daytime parade every few years in favor of something brand new. But these night time floats must be extremely expensive to create and maintain. I'm cool with their re-introducing the MSEP and Spectromagic for new visitors to discover and we Disney-frequenters to see every few years.

The most annoying part of SpectroMagic, to me, is the god-awful Genie float. The horrible voice, the bad music section, drop it from the parade, Disney.

I'm with you. I prefer Now is the Time over Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.

Re: Good-bye Electrical, Hello Spectro, yet again.
I have actually never seen Spectro Magic :dizzy:
Just one of those things, I'm not a big parade person and was on a pretty long hiatus from WDW. I was looking forward to seeing MSEP when I go in August, I will definitely make a point of it now. I'm old school though too - I really like Baroque Hoedown, especially the Cinderella section. Plus next time I go I'll get to see Spectro Magic.
Plus I'd rather see Disney invest money in something else in a new nightime parade at the moment, so it's all good for me.
I also do really enjoy The Best Time of Your Life - both it and TAGBBT are great songs. I think the Sherman brothers did a fabulous job with the replacement even if they were peeved about it at the time....

It does amaze me how many people are not parade fans. I generally avoid the topic because it is generally viewed as sacrilege.
