John Lasseter visits Epcot
Twitter has been all a tweet today over sightings of John Lasseter visiting the Imagination Pavillion, going through the main level and then up to the second level. John Lasseter visiting Epcot is interesting but spending his time in one pavillion with Disney management just gives my imagination a workout.
But with Future World, I'm living on hope and day dreams for better days ahead.
Re: John Lasseter visits Epcot
He is the what CCO of Imagineering or parks and resorts or something like that... I think he certainly will be looking into doing something in this space... Dream finder anyone...?
Re: John Lasseter visits Epcot
I hate to burst your bubble, but he was in town for an annual big-wig Disney meeting.
Re: John Lasseter visits Epcot
I have not talked to you in such a long time and you do this to me?:cry::cry::cry:
The big annual meeting was in the Imagination Pavillion? That would serve the executive's right, to have to endure that building.

I don't t h i n k so??? I believe he is the CCO of Pixar and WD Animation studios. He does get invited to advise on lots of stuff though. That is why HIM being at the Imagination Pavillion kinda excited me.

How come no one gets this excited when I go to the Imagination Pavillon?
Re: John Lasseter visits Epcot
Intrigue-
The IAAPA Attractions Expo meets and Theme Parks insider has a group of Disney legends to discuss a bunch of topics. This year the group was Disney Imagineers both current and former. So first Lasseter visits Imagination...
and then these comments from the group.
Baxter: "I don't think the Imagination pavilion works anymore. I'm going to be forthright about that. I think the difference we had between Figment and Dreamfinder, representing knowledge and the unbridled enthusiasm of a child, was very clear to people. It spoke and it resonated. They've tried to bring Figment back, bit it's like having a comedian play against a comedian, with Nigel Channing. It's like Hardy and Hardy instead of Laurel and Hardy. You've got to have a good play between the characters, and I think people go through there and they don't understand what it's about. All of us go through this imagination process, and I thought that was an extraordinary topic to handle and put out there, and it kind of skirts the issue of what it is today."
And this exchange:
Sklar:
"Rick, how many times have you changed the Golden Dreams ending?"
Rothschild:
"Eric and I were just talking about going at it again. It was sort of understood that every 10 years there's enough history goes on that we can begin to look back and we should reconsider."
Eric Jacobson, Creative Leader EPCOT, Walt Disney Imagineering :
"Rick's not announcing anything." (Laughter)
Rothschild:
"My point being that we've gone 12 years since we did the last one."
Sklar:
"And having just seen the show yesterday, the next last image in Golden Dreams is a man by the name of Lance Armstrong."
Ouch.

I think a better question is, what the heck are you doing in the Imagination Pavillion in the first place?

I'd generally have to agree with that but I must admit I did journey into Imagination pavilion my last trip. I had done the Flower portion of Future World and was very warm, so I ducked into the dark, cool Imagination, had an opportunity to sit and cool off while being bored out of my wits.
Re: John Lasseter visits Epcot
The trick there is to wake up on your own before the ride is over to save you the embarrassment of having the staff wake you at the unload area.
Re: John Lasseter visits Epcot
Sounds amazing to me. I'd love to see JII restored with Dream Finder and some awesome 21st Century bells and whistles.
I always thought a ride system where you could choose to go on the attraction would work really well. That would be an experience guided by your imagination!
Re: John Lasseter visits Epcot
Everything I hear about Imagination getting a refurb is that they will pull out Figment all together. No Dreamfinder. In it's place would be a Phineas and Ferb attraction.
Which makes sense to me, those characters do have quite the imagination and it ties the attraction in to a pre-existing franchise, which it appears all attractions must be now.
Re: John Lasseter visits Epcot
How does it appear that way? One whole pavilion in Future World is tied into an existing franchise.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, or you really don't know...
Re: John Lasseter visits Epcot
Fair enough.
List all of the Future World pavilions that are based on an existing franchise.
I count one.
