Disney's Elusive Dragon

I haven't seen a rumor as elaborate as this one in a long while. I have been watching it unfold for some time now and listening to those within and reading here and there about the Dragon. Bits and pieces over the months.

First reported Disney had rented a hanger. Then there were reports of Dragon flying about.


Then Dragon was spotted on a moving flatbed near the studio's all wrapped up. Fantasmic, FW Marathon, FLE all were being speculated.

Then a very weird YouTube Is this a Dragon Sighting? Very Twilight-ish. (TTT).

and I have to spread this out because of the video requirements of the forum.

And the oddities Continue.

And then you start to think Disney has been setting up the discussion forum fan base in a long drawn out hoax of sort. Yep, a long drawn out viral marketing. But marketing this Dragon for what?

And so dear ole Gary, by the way an actual member for a few months on many forums, and an official blogger for Disney's, Disney Parks Blog, then leads us directly to his next internet marketing spot, Tumblr.

Now the rumors are flying. Speculation galore.

FLE Grand Opening Day in December is kinda loosing momentum 'cause most of FLE has already been unveiled.
So rumor, enter Dragon for Opening Day. A marketing Dragon Tool, to tote around to advertise the New Fantasyland.

Disney's, So What is Next?, announcement On December 7th, is actually gaining some more momentum than the FLE rumor.

Podcasters, Bloggers, Discussion Board Administrators and so forth are tossing ideas along with members.

Something for a New Parade.

Replacements for Wishes, Replacing Tink

The announcement another expansion, Villains-land.

It will be interesting to see if Gary continues to tease the fan base in days and weeks to come. Too many have to know the secret, will someone leak it, accidentally or on purpose.

I give kudos to Disney, this has been an interesting approach.

Very unique marketing and hype. Disney certainly knew how to work social media for this Dragon. Still think the best one was letting the dragon be seen near DHS in broad daylight. Now it does appear Dragon was meant to be spotted.

Sure hope whatever the Dragon represents it is worth all the hype they are creating. It first started making regular appearances in Bakersfield in June and was actually spotted multiple times before that before his whereabouts could tracked down. The confidentiality agreement with the hanger created the hype Disney obviously wanted. Well thought out, I give them credit for the suspense.

This is incredibly annoying. Dragons belong in the Animal Kingdom. They are on the ticket booth. They are on the sign. Come on! DAK needs the dragon

As a huge cryptozoology fan, I can dig it. The videos have the feel of Animal Planet's "Lost Tapes."

Could this be an addition to MK for the FLE, Animal Kingdom with the always present dragon on the sign or an addition to Fantasmic in DHS? Maybe it's also simply advertising for the upcoming Malificient film.

if people are talking about it then it must be working... Disney has done nothing but send a dragon across the property... what has been said on their end...? unless I'm missing something...
