| Wishing a certain someone would take me to Neverland | I think people are caught up on the whole "DAYS" thing. That is just the name of their event. It is not a day that is specifically for gays...it a day that is for their event - wait - it's not even a day it's a week event. And it is NOT associated with Disney theme parks or any other theme parks in Orlando. So I'm still trying to figure out why this is a problem. We have Nurses Day, Doctors Day, we have Administrative Professionals Day, there are religious day like Presbyterian Day and Catholic Day and we even devote entire MONTHS to groups like Black History MONTH, Library Lovers MONTH, Irish American MONTH... All of these are the same. A time that that specific group can get together and celebrate something. Friends, family, being together...whatever. We have all these days and months and weeks devoted to everything, but why can't the gay community have theirs? Just like what was posted a little earlier, they are people too. You work with them, commute with them, go to movies with them, eat dinner with them...The only thing that will make them different is their orientation? Come on people you have better personalities than that. It is just a time for people to get together and have a good time, as a group, at Disney and Universal and wherever. And this was posted tooo, what if you came with your work and you called it "company name here" Day. how would everyone feel. This is just like one of those times. On a lighter note, here is a website with all the Month, Week, and Day Holidays for the enitre year. there are some you would think of and some you wouldn't. http://www.brownielocks.com/month2.html |

| What I don't get is why people need to have days, months, weeks whatever dedicated to them. Why can't we learn about the culture from world history and if you would like you can study more on a particular subject. I mean yes we have Black history month but I do not hear of white history month or any other color for that matter.. I mean what if a group of people tattooed their whole body so they were purple. Can we have a purple history month? Probably not. I think we dont need to single out minorities and celebrate differences but embrace that we are all human and like God says we should love thy neighbor!

| Wishing a certain someone would take me to Neverland | CnD...I don't think it is a studying into the subject as to why we have these days, weeks and months...It was just that someone got creative and decided to set aside a time during the year to focus on a certain cause. People then see these focus subjects and then, might, look into them. I don't think they were set up to offend anyone either. it was just a time to celebrate something. if you go to the website with all the celebrations, you will see that every single day has a celebration, every week has a celebration, and every month has multiple celebrations. There is something for every one. and as for a white history month....I don't think the ACLU would be up for that, but I do understand where you are coming from. |

Also, being in theatre, I see alot of intolerance (and acceptance) towards the homosexual community. I do understand where everyone is coming from, but at the same time, by jumping on one person for being intolerant without asking where their question comes from is just as intolerant. Noone knows what they have heard to make them wonder if they should avoid these days. None of this is aimed at anyone post. That one post was just concise. Please don't take any of this as pointed, it's simply my 2 cents.

| C-Ticket Holder | OMG YOU GUYS ARE TOTALLY MISREPRESENTING WHAT I SAID! I read on a couple things about odd stories about those days and I didn't know if I would wanna go during one of those days but since I hadn't been to one I wanted to know if any of you could tell m if the stories were true. I was born in San Fran and close friends are my family are gay. I have nothing against them having a Gay Day at all but the media makes a big deal of the day and I wanted to know if anyone here had been to one and knew the truth about them. Jeez. I can't ask a simple question. I am not trying to be intolerent. I have never been towards gay people. Ever. And I am offended that you would think so. Maybe the way I asked the question was off but I didn't mean to ask it badly if I did. I tried to be as sensative as possible as to not offend. I just wanted to know the truth from people who maybe had been there during one. People need to learn that sometimes questions are just questions and nothing more. I really am hurt. My best friend Aaron is gay, my friend David is gay. They are like family to me and I would never mean to offend them. I just wanted to know the TRUTH. Thank you to those who attempted to answer my question.

| I'm sorry your thread got so off track. As far as crowds go, yes it is busier(sp?) than the week before or after, as for not going, I have been there 2 times during Gay Days, I only saw inappropriate behavoir once(during both stay of 3 or 4 days). I would just look at the event plan and go to different parks than they are(the other parks will not be as crowded), and keep in mind Disney is always busy it's just a matter a of how much. Hope you have a great trip!!

| Wishing a certain someone would take me to Neverland | I too would like to apologize. It is just that I get these questions from people that go out of their way to cancel or change their plans because of whichever group is on property. I was in no way meaning to "yell" but I guess that is what it sounded like. Anytime there is a large group on property, we post and attempt to advise guest that crowds will be higher than usual. I have heard of inappropriate acts being displayed during ALL events with ALL the groups that come into our parks, as for what you should do...notify a Cast Member immediately, we know how to handle this situation. As for 4th of July, my suggestion is if you NEED to be there - fine, if not stay away from the Magic Kingdom. The park usually closes before noon (or thereabout) because it is filled to capacity. As for parking, people normally end up parking at EPCOT because Magic Kingdom parking is filled. I would like to apologize again for sounding like an attack an attack on you. I think I just looked too far into the question. Have a Magical Day!! |

| Theses days have been going on for a real long time. And the stories you heard most likely did not occur as much as they were reported to have occured. Like you said in a later post, hetero (straight) people have done the same things but it doesnt get news because they are "supposed" to do these things

| Hey GoofysMom, Not a problem. I guess this is one of those hot button issues that people always talk about. I just read your question for what it was, a question. Not some stinging indictment on homosexuals or the gay lifestyle. Plus don't feel hurt about your post. You asked a simple question and some people took it upon themselves to run with it and make you something you are not. Basically not your fault, don't feel bad. ![]() |

| B-Ticket Holder | gay da I am a gay male. This year will be my 5th Gay Days. On Gay Day at the MK, Gay people wear red shirts and it a thrill and kinda emotional rush to see so many gay people together in one place. It is all about networking and making friends. My boyfriend Eric of 10 years and I have made some great friends during Gay Days. Our friends have moved to Orlando and this year just like last year we are staying with them. The mood in the park is usually very fun during Gay Days. I know a Disney cast member that says that many the cast members love Gay Day. There is not a lot of bad behavior on Gay Day at MK. I have joined this site because I am loving all the information on here. It is going to make my future visists more fun. I hope I have not offended anyone on the site. Sean |
