Ok..people can you just stop calling it GAY DAY..i don't get some people some times. You know how offensive some of you are being. I know we all don't mean to be that way, but you need to watch what you say. I am not personally familair, with these particular days that everyone is naming, but if your going to say something offensive don't say it on this site. We all should respect eachothers thoughts, beliefs, and views even if they are against our own. Please be careful and watch what you say, not only on this thread, but also on the site. Lets just keep it friendly and clean.

WOW!! This thread has been inactive for 4 months or so, why bring it back if it offends you? Just so you know Gay Days are an actuall event(by that name) that takes place in the Orlando area, you can do a Google search and find an event calendar and everything.

Trust me, it's not offensive. I have attended this a couple times. Of course my parents had no idea why I was going

Lol well. Don't worry, it's not very offensive, it's just a general way of saying it. I mean, it's much easier to say gay than homosexual.

Or at least, to me, it's not offensive.

I don't know if I'm quite getting what you're saying. are you saying that the word "gay" is a "naughty word" and shouldn't be used? are you offended by anyone even mentioning the word "gay"?

or are you saying the word "gay" is offensive to homosexual people? b/c like someone else mentioned, "Gay Days" is what the event is called, by the homosexual people who organize it and attend.

or are you offended by the word "Days"?

I don't mean to add fuel to the fire, as this could easily turn into an explosive subject, I'm just trying to understand exactly what this person means.

Not sure I really should be getting involved here but I think that the person is not familiar with the term and that it's perfectly okay to use and that it is not meant as offensive.

Now the word "days" is offending me to no end...j/k....now give me a hug dood.

Here are the facts from the site that runs the Gay Days event.
Quote:
Years ago, Disneyland used to have a private party one night of the year for gays and lesbians. When the event was canceled in 1998, we created Gay Day Anaheim. We based the happening on our big sister event in Orlando, Gay Day, which attracts over 100,000 gays and lesbians from around the world each June.

Like the Orlando event, Gay Days Anaheim is a "mix in," meaning gay people and straight people mingle together; the park is open to the general public. Also like Orlando's Gay Day, we wear RED shirts to identify one another and show our numbers.

The first Gay Days Anaheim in 1998 attracted about 2,500 people. In 2005, we had about 30,000! Pretty amazing. What was once a small one-day gathering has become a full weekend event with parties, gatherings, group photos, scavenger hunts, private meals, and much more!

Remember, this event isn't sponsored by Disney (hence why it's "unofficial") so if you call Disneyland asking for information about Gay Day, they will tell you that this is not
a Disney event.
Just like Star Wars conventions, Joy Night at WDW, and the pin trading events this is a group of like minded people who come to the parks to have a good time with people of their own mind set.

They use the term "Gay Days" so it is not offensive. They even encourage participants to wear red shirts so as not to accidently go up to nonparticipants and then offend them. They are a well organized group of people who have some big sponsors now.

Should you go on the same day as one of the Gay Days? NO as it is going to be crowded. The only time I was in a park and was aware of Gay Days was a perfectly normal day for me but there was a very disgusting incident involving the Straight people who were making anti-Gay remarks and one set of pin traders were even imitating the Gays. Some low brow people will harrass the Gays at this event so be warned that the Gays are not the problem but the low brow scum who harrass, mock and insult them is the problem.

You can complain to the park management if you wear a red shirt on Gay Days and are not Gay, they might give you a not-red shirt free. I believe we must hate the sin and love the sinner therefore I think the Gays Days is ok but I would stay away from the parks that day if I could go.

The word gay in GAY DAY is not offense. I have made it know on this board that I gay and go to Gay Days every year. If you are saying the word gay is offensive on this board? Is this a case of "what about the children?" People are gay or homosexual or queer or whatever you want to call it. What is wrong about children knowing that? And what does "hate the sin and love the sinner" suppose to mean. That is the kind of stuff that does not need to be said on this board. It seems that the intentions of the rest of the post were positive so I am thinking it was not meant to offend.

"Hate the sin and love the sinner" means we should not hate people just because they do something we find wrong such as smoking, drinking, gambling or another faith. I know of people who will have nothing to do with certain people because they are sinners and will not take the time see the true person within. I have strong religious beliefs but at the same time cannot stop being friends with Gays solely based on their life style. That is what I mean.

As for the children at Gay Days, it is easy to either tell the truth or to lie and say they are a big club. The problem I see with Gay days is the trashy people who insult the Gays. Do you want your kids to hear anti-gay remarks? My only time there was traumatic because well I cannot say but they were mocking the gays and it was really bad that day. That is why I think it is not good to have kids there.

Gay is not offensive but some boards do not like certain words or subject spoken so that is up to the site owner to answer your question.

The Original Poster's question has been answered here by several members.

May I add that Gay Days at WDW are much like any other organized event. It may cause parks to be over crowded due to the large group of participants.

If you would like to avoid crowds I suggest going to the website of the organizers "Gay Days" and checking out thier schedule of events. If you avoid the park the group will be attending that day, you should be able to successfully avoid any crowds and long lines.

That said.....

Here on DWT we are a diversified group that we call family.

That includes all types of people with no thought to ***, race, religion or sexual preference. Heck, we even allow "Universal IOA" lovers join in the fun here!

The words used here to describe an event for Gays, by Gays are not a problem. If someone had intentionally used a slur of any type toward any person or group, it would be handled accordingly.

From what I see, an uninformed member saw the name and attempted to come to the defense of the attendees of the event, when in all actuality, it was unnecessary.

In an attempt to stop further posts from wandering off course and possibly offending any of our DWT family members, I am closing this thread.

Thank you.
