I like the cruise ship idea posted above but I think the cost of building and maintaining would make it another expensive motel.

If it were my decision to make, I would build a value bunkhouse style rooms. No frills. Private rooms , 1 double bed. AC, small TV and maybe a small fridge. Geared towards singles or couples that are on the move when on vacation and dont need all the expensive ammenites of the higher priced resorts. Just a place to store stuff, sleep and get away from the magic for a bit. Lodging room clusters built in the dence vegitation in a simular fashion as the campground loops. Community bathroom/shower buildings again in keeping with the campgrounds. Bus and/or boat service only. Monorails cost huge money, so no need to add that.

For me the magic of the place isnt the rooms. While there I dont hardly spend anytime in them, so why pay so much money on a room, when I could be useing my funds to buy gifts for family. I prefer to travel alone when on vacation. I could save a buck and stay off sight, but I do like the perks while staying at WDW. And the Mouse prefers that folks stay there too. Mo' money for him.

This format would allow the mouse to have a very profitable room available for the single guest at a much more reasonable price.

I realy think that WDW has all its family bases covered for lodging. So what about us lonely single travelers?...lol I would certainly go more often and stay longer if there were rooms available that are more in line cost wise to the many available places in Kissemmee or sourounding area.

Personally I would like to see a new Deluxe resort. I personally cant afford to stay at one but generally where there is a Deluxe resort there is also a great set of shops and restaurants.

In terms of theming I'd like to see one under water that can be in the Seven Seas Lagoon with a tunnel to the Magic Kingdom gate and the TTC for easy access in and out. Where either the ceiling, floor or wall is sea through (depending where your room is located) so you could see the marine life around you.

I agree with the few people here who want to see the Asian Hotel become reality. It would actually be nice to see perhaps a combination of those 4 hotels that never came to be from the "phase II" maps of pre-WDW. Keeping up with the layout of the moderate resorts, there could be 4 separate clusters, much like CBR, representing the Asian, the Persian, the Medeterrainan, and the Venetian Hotels all in one. Check in could be a modern airport theme. There is plenty of room to build it near EPCOT, the only problem is that there is NOWHERE to build it with entry through the international gateway. That would kill the whole image for me. Plus, as a moderate hotel, there would not be the same dining experience.

Just in case anyone wants to read about the old hotel concepts Lou did an article back in 2/05. The link is posted below. Also below is a link to another site that has a few different pictures of the concepts.

I think you don't need any more deluxe accommodations in Walt Disney World at all. You have the Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk and Animal Kingdom Lodge as well as the Vacation Club "only" resorts which you can pay for as well in Old Key West and Saratoga Springs, making 12 total "deluxe" resorts which is greater than the amount of moderate and value resorts. I think they need to bulk up on the moderate and value level resorts and perhaps you can settle for less spectacular versions of the Persian, Mediterranean and Asian resorts but at a lower price range.

Despite being "spoiled" with the Vacation Club accommodations, I actually loved the Port Orleans French Quarter resort when I stayed there. The size of the rooms were just right and to be honest, you pay for the same sized room as when you goto the Grand Californian Hotel in Disneyland for less. The only problem with the resort is that you don't have any full-service eateries in the particular resort par-say.

Personally, if you make resorts just like Port Orleans French Quarter with full service resturants, I know I would love to go there and for a moderate resort, it had a great theme to it and I think while the ideas of the Persian, Mediterranean and Asian would indeed need to be "dumbed down" to be a moderate, it could work as a moderate if they use the logic from French Quarter.

I don't think Disney would ever make a Haunted Mansion or ToT themed hotel simply because children would not want to stay there. My little cousins were terrified whenever we went on those rides as well as I when I was younger so imagine them having to go back to the creepy hotel at the end of the day and having to sleep there.

I would like to see a moderate resort with the addition of balconies. I am not a fan of common walkways.

How about a DVC resort like the Disneyland Hotel in Paris at one of the parks?

I would love to see disney build a Disney Villains resort.
When hinges creak, in doorless chambers. And strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls. Whenever candlelights flicker, where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present. Practicing their terror, with ghoulish delight!

We haven't had a new moderate open since Coronado Springs, and that was back around 2000, and, let's be honest, not the most interesting hotel. I would love to have a new option in this category!

A new moderate would be great, they would still put good money into it since they would get money back and knowing Disney it would be great themeing, I'd love to see it

Re: What type of new resort would you like to see open?

I like the idea of the Asian themed hotel, as long as it can be a moderate...as much as I love the deluxe resorts, and I am a DVC member, it would be nice to have a moderate resort option for those times when you are low on cash but just want to take a quick trip down (especially for us poor grad students!). Disney had been paying a lot of attention to the Deluxe resorts these days, which is fine, but don't forget about the other categories!

Re: What type of new resort would you like to see open?

I probably wasn't thinking straight when I voted for a deluxe resort. Now that you mention it... There are quite a few. Deluxe is just what I turn to since I have been fortunate enough to stay at AK Lodge and Wilderness Lodge, because I go with my family. They pay for it. By the time Disney would build a new resort I'd be on my own, which means I'd be most likely paying for my trip. Thus I probably won't be staying in anything above a Moderate. I change my vote to a Moderate resort. They're nice and all I need is somewhere to sleep. Who am I kidding, I'd be in the parks almost everyday and wouldn't be at a resort too much. And I'm hoping college will be filled with the CP for me!
