Nice idea for a thread. I'm trying to think of the unfulfilled rumors.
Ah yes, the refurbishment and re-opening of River Country!
I missed that thing. And I'd never been!
I don't know if this belongs in this area, but after reading the Disney Villians thread below, and since I have asked this on other boards, I was wondering what the WDW Trivia folks thought. What do you think are the best rumors/plans that never happened. I was thinking of the Beastly Kingdom and the Villians Park, but there have been many others. Some seemed pretty far along in the planning, like Beastly Kingdom

How about making a Kingdom Hearts attraction or show? That would be great!!!

If we can dream it, we can do it.
River Country was Walt Disney World's original water park. It was on the shore of Bay Lake, near Ft. Wilderness. Disney announced it would be permanently closed on 1/20/05. http://allearsnet.com/btp/faq_rc.htmOriginally Posted by GoofysMommy

It was far enough along in the plans for AK that a dragon is part of the AK logo! But, when money ran tight, the area got shelved. Here are some interesting articles on it: http://www.mouseplanet.com/mark/mg041013.htm http://www.mouseplanet.com/mark/mg041027.htm
Hope that helps!

There are many other things that hint towards the Beastly Kingdom plans. Take a look at the parking lot, for example, there is a lot called "unicorn", if memory serves.
I hope this gets re-visited. If Iger really wants to make improvments to AK, this is a sure fire winner IMHO

I would think the most classic example of this would be the Western River Expedition, excuse me if I got the name wrong, which was what PoTC was supposed to be at MK.

I thought I had read about David Copperfield opening an "underground" magic dinner and experience in the Studios. Anyone ever hear of that?
Technically not a rumor since it was on TV with a press conference and everything,
but I was disappointed that they never built the proposed Disney's America. It would have been great to have a park closer to the Northeast, and there seemed to be some interesting ideas about how to present American history to the public in this park.

True. There are tons of concept drawings and great information about those plans. It would have been great. I can't stand thinking about it, because it depresses me. Disney should go back to these plans and build this in Florida.Originally Posted by Benjo

I do remember seeing rumors that they would build that as their 5th park at WDW, but who knows if it would actually happen. I'd hesitate to say it might because the theming in Liberty Square is similar to what Disney's America looked like on paper. However, look at the similar themes but vastly different attractions that Disney has done with the Jungle Cruise, Animal Kingdom, and the Trading Post in World Showcase.Originally Posted by dbm20th

So, I guess that was a true "disappearing" act now wasn't it?!![]()
