    Booze Homogenizing?

EEP! I am hearing rumors I hope are not true.

Has anyone heard what WDW has started doing in the last month? I've heard that they are doing away with speciality drinks at the various lounges and restaurants and opting for basically the same drink menu all over the resort.

This can't be true...can it? How are people supposed to do the Monorail Tour if all the lounges on the monorail are serving the same cocktails?!?!

    i didn't get bleeped!

I dont' like the fact they have changed so many menus around the world to almost the same thing either. Now drinks! That seems easier but not fun for the customers!

The menus irritated me too, but now they are doing it to alcohol. What next....the same decorations?!?! Where's the incentive to try different places on return trips to WDW if I can get the same steak dinner served with the same martini at any place on property?

P.S. If they touch the Kungaloosh...

Well since they are doing it to the restaurant menus, it wouldn't surprise me if they do it to the drink menus in the lounges. It's sad that they are taking away all individuality , I look at it as being the equivalent of taking all the mom and pop (or individually owned) stores away from downtown areas and flood the areas with all the same old mall stores. As responsible Disney fans we should start a petition. Disney we want you to be Disnified again!!!! (still can't find Mickey smilie)

I can't believe they're making all the drink menus the same, the whole point of different resorts and lounges is the theming, why would they theme things so differently then make all the drinks the same?

Okay, I was at the Polynesian for Happy hour 2 times in the past month, and we had a different menu the second time. The second time the menu was a LOT smaller and there were some drinks missing, but the Polynesian still had all their speciality drinks. They did have a speciality Year of A Million Dreams drink which was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I really want another one. :-)

So the menu was smaller, they didn't offer any of the Pleasure Island drinks on the menu anymore. They also had a new menu cover with a martini glass made out of stars. It was cute.

I will check out some of the other resorts, I'll see if we can move our happy hour next time. :-)

I was at Animal Kingdom Lodge a few weeks ago and they still had their specialty drinks, thought I had to ask for it.

I suppose it all comes down to cost... having the same drink menu across the board means keeping a very specific inventory instead of a specialized one. It scares me to think how unimaginative WDW will be in 30 years when my son is taking his children.
Sometimes all you need is a reminder that out there lies a better place... a better world... a Walt Disney World.

Hic* it's when you *hic* get on the *hic* monorail *hic* and go to *hic* the three resorts *hic* and order their *hic* specialty drink. *Hic* The only problem is *hic* the monorail *hic* goes in a circle *hic* and sometimes you *hic* forget *hic* where you are *hic* supposed to *hic* get off. *hic*

One thing about the Monorail Tour....THERE IS NO PUKING ALLOWED!!!

Like T-Nina said, you ride the monorail grabbing adult beverages from the lounges of the resorts on the monorail. Its "easier" to do that than it is going around the World Showcase.
