WDW Radio Show Disney Podcast #36 - Oct. 14, 2007

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show, your Walt Disney World Information Station. This is Show #36 for the week of October 14, 2007.

I have just a few pieces of news from Walt Disney World before we take a look at the next of the 7 Wonders of Walt Disney World. Once again, it's something you really can’t see or touch, but is something that definitely belongs on this list.

We will announce the winner of our latest Walt Disney World Half Marathon Challenge contest, and then I will answer a number of your vacation planning-related emails, this time with the help of Pam Forrester, our travel expert and co-owner of The Magic For Less Travel. I'll also play more of your voicemails at the end of the show, so as always, please sit back, relax enjoy this week’s episode of The WDW Radio Show.

Be sure to view this week's complete show notes page.

You can email the show at lou@wdwradio.com or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW.

My wife feels the same way about me and our boys!

I have a music question for Lou or anyone who migh know. What was the music playing in the background at the end of the podcast during the Magic/Muppet meets spot by "Kermit"? I recognize it, and was humming along with it, but for the life of me can't remember what ride/attraction/soundtrack it comes from!

    Very nice show Lou!

I wish though that you or Pam would have explained fully where the "special viewing area" is for Fantasmic. IMO..this location is less than desirable and not worth the added expense on top of having a limited menu. This may not bother some people but if it may, I think anyone describing it should be up front as to what is is you're paying for.

I really loved the 7 Wonders segment this week...very interesting indeed.

Just listened to the show (Episode 36) and had to tell you that I really think the Fantasmic Dinner Package stinks. The section they put you in is at the extreme end of the theater which is bad for two basic reasons: during the princess scene, the music you hear does not match the float you see and you can see backstage which can ruin the magic for some folks. More importantly, you still have to show up at least 30 minutes before show time (Disney recommends 45), so even if you had to wait 60 without the package, it's just an extra 15 minutes. And you pointed out in the show that those who go during busier times of the year like holidays can expect to find people waiting 2 hours ahead of time for the show, but Disney adds a second and sometimes a third showing and crowds drastically drop off. Basically, the Fantasmic! Dinner Package is unnecessary and given the cost of the package (especially at the Brown Derby), I think you should urge your listeners against it.

This email is too long for your show, but thought I'd pass along my 2 cents to you so you can help your listeners out if someone emails you about it again. I wrote an article about all of this at http://www.studioscentral.com/column/weekly22.html

    1. Oh, Matt!!

    2. In the couple of hours you have to wait on line to get a good seat otherwise, you can listen to about half of one of my shows

After careful consideration, I must agree with Lou and rescind point #3. This would have made for an excellent short question on the show.
