Wow...I hope that's not correct info. We've been thinking of doing a vow renewal for our 10th. but at that price we may think again.
First of all, THANK YOU, Lou! I'm so excited to have heard my e-mail read on the podcast, and also so thankful for you and Becky to have taken the time to answer it.
I do have a question about this, though. I was a bit dismayed to hear that a vow renewal cannot take place on WDW property for less than $4500, am I correct in this information?
So for clarification, could I NOT bring in a local justice of the peace or other officiant and have my small group gathered on the Poly beach (for example) to do this quick ceremony? Seriously, would we be stopped? I don't want the flowers, cake, anything else, I just want the ceremony and 8 people to watch. Not even chairs, nada!
Would this be seriously bucking the rules? I don't want to be one of those people, but seriously, $4500? I was thinking about the money going toward the officiant, and that's all.
What do you all think about this?

always plotting, planning, and looking forward to our next adventure...
I believe WDW owns their property and as such, sets the rules for what is and is not allowed on property. They probably like to control events like Vow renewals, even small ones so there is not an interruption to guests at the Poly that are not part of the renewal. There is normally a pretty good reason behind all their rules and it is not just money.
We were thinking about vow renewal for our 20th next year. There must be a least expensive way. Did you go to Disney Weddings > Gateway

The only people besides the two of us are our two kids. I would think we could just have a quick little ceremony.

OK, so again, and this is only for debate purposes, I'm really not trying to be that person who bends WDW rules for my own advantage. Let's just say that we brought an officiant to a less-high-profile place, like a pretty spot at the Wilderness Lodge or Port Orleans, or even the Boardwalk, for a 10 minute ceremony. Would anyone really stop it? Don't you think this happens more often than Disney's Wedding Department knows about?

The best thing that I can say is give them a call at: 321-939-4610 and see what they say.
Since the plan is just for eight, Disney might work something out with you. That would be my advice to begin with. Call Disney and see what they say and go for there.

Wow, $4500 does seem high. How about hopping on the TTA and have Lou there to conduct the renewal?![]()
