    Re: Club D23

Hmm..... countdown seems to end on April Fools day for a very un-disney looking site, that is not part of disney.com... very convincing

The Golden age never was the present age… but with human liberty we can fulfill the promise and meaning of America. To everyone a chance. To all people, regardless of their birth the right to live, to work, to be themselves, and to become whatever their visions can combine to make them. This is the promise of America...And I foresee the American adventure to continue for a long, long time!

Isn't April Fools Day the day they anticipate the mega computer virus to be launched that is expected to be laying dormant in so many computers already?

I followed the links and it goes to another Disney forum. They pretty much figured out that it is a prank.

    Re: Club D23

The link to MouseGuest website is a recent addition to the "prank" site. This site has been a source of a lot of chatter on Twitter where it was outed that MouseGuest was behind it (by doing a search for the owner of the Club23.com domain).

I am personally one of the people that expressed my distaste for this prank especially when there are other forums out there that are in a furor over D23 as not meeting their anticipation. My stance was that to some it might be viewed as poking a stick at an angry dog (the dog being the upset fans).

I'm sure that wasn't their intent, but the original version of the site looked very official to the untrained observer. Mark from MousePlanet pointed out all kinds of clues to it's fakeness based on errors in writing of press release copies (i.e. the person being quoted is never referred to by their first name but always the last and Disney never refers to Orlando but Lake Buena Vista)

Take a look at the bottom of the press release. There's a hint that it isn't real. I posted and bolded it below:

*Trip to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida for four (4) days/three (3) nights, consisting of the following elements for the Group: [1] Resort hotel accommodations for three (3) nights; [2] 4-Day Magic Your Way passes with Park Hopper option; [3] $250 Disney gift card; [4] complimentary ground transportation throughout the Resort; [5] round-trip coach air transportation between a major metropolitan airport near Inaugural Year Member's residence ("airport of origin") and Orlando International Airport; [6] airport/hotel transfers; [7] attendence at the opening ceremonies and press event for Club D23 and [8] an exclusive meet-and-greet with Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Bigfoot and the Tooth Fairy. Approximate retail value ("ARV"): $1/10,000.

    Adam,

That "footnote" wasn't in the original version of the "press release" that was making it's rounds early this morning. It was added many, many hours later after people got quite upset about the hoax sounding too legitimate to qualify was satire

Oh okay. It does almost sound legit but once I read it, it raised my suspicion.

We do have a sense of humor but this is going a little to far IMO.

I have a sense of humor, this just isn't funny it's stupid. But then I also think the entire concept of April Fool's Day is stupid.
