WDW Radio Show Disney Podcast #119 - May 17, 2009

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #119 for the week of May 17, 2009. Thank you for tuning in once again

We値l start off the show with some news from Walt Disney World, including big news from D23, new Passolder offers and new characters now appearing at Disney痴 Hollywood Studios.

This week痴 Walt Disney World Top 10 may be one of my most interesting yet, as passion and opinion may make you either strongly agree or question our list, as Tim Foster and I give you the Top Ten Walt Disney World Attraction Theme Songs. Join us as we go through each of the parks and examine some of the best music from attractions past and present.

I値l have a new Walt Disney World Trivia Contest this week, where not only is the prize very unique, but there will be more than one winner who will get to experience a very special kind of prize.

I値l play more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show.

You can email the show or call the voicemail TOLL FREE at 888-703-2171.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

Re: WDW Radio Show Disney Podcast #119 - May 17, 2009

What a very fun episode! Nice work, Lou - I can't imagine how long it took to edit it with the spot-on background music.

I have to agree that Wilderness Lodge pretty much doesn't qualify. If I had my one piece of atmosphere music, I'd have to put the Epcot entrance loop in as mine. But that one doesn't qualify, either.

My Top 10 would look very similar, although I would have the steel-drum-band song snippet from the WDW Railroad leg from the Main Street Station to Frontierland (you know, the one the narrator stops to listen out for the "train chasing tigers"). Please correct me if that's not original music to that attraction, though.

Oh, and as far as food goes . . . Lou did bring up "Veggie, Veggie, Fruit, Fruit!"

When it comes to music, the Magic Kingdom has the best lyric-based songs, but Epcot has the best background music.

I do think the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki room should have been on the final list... that is a classic and one Walt loved.

Great show. I'd love to have copies of all the songs talked about. How about a Top Ten Songs II.

I absolutely agree with your parallels between the score to Soarin' and the movie Rudy. Rudy is one if, if not my absolute favorite movie of all time. Both soundtracks are extremely powerful and have sort of a progressive, determined ascent to their respective goals. Beautiful music, in both cases.

I have to disagree on the Wilderness Lodge music.. The Wilderness Lodge is an attraction in itself, and the music isn't only in the lobby, but also outside.
It is a wonderful Disney feeling when you return there, and much as an attraction's background music, hearing the WL theme music also brings you right back to that WDW vacation.

Also, for me, some video games, like Star Trek "Welcome Aboard Captain" or TRON, "Had Enough? hah hah hah" bring me right back to the old Contemporary Arcade where I first discovered and played those games...

Yeah, just piling on some more - Soarin' is an incredible soundtrack, particularly how it starts . . . if you close your eyes, you almost feel like you were just lifted up.

My Mp3 is filled with park music. I think the music is such a huge part of the parks. Could you imagine walking around with no music in the background? It sets the mood for whatever part of the park you are in.

So I have to ask, is there a good place to buy and down load theme park music on line?
