WDW Radio Show Disney Podcast #146 - November 22, 2009

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #146 for the week of November 22, 2009. Thank you for tuning in once again.

Disney enthusiasts who enjoy the parks and films often look for other ways to continue the experiences as much and as often as possible. They look for ways to continue the stories beyond what they have already seen or heard. In some cases, they are fortunate enough to have the Characters and story lines go beyond the confines of the original, as in the case with what my guests this week have created. They are Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, bestselling authors of the Peter and the Starcatchers series of books, which recount the tales of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and Captain Hook in the days before the original novel and Disney animated film. I had a chance to sit down with them in Walt Disney World and get a close look inside the collaborative efforts these two creative talents brought together to chronicle the adventures of Peter Pan before he lost his shadow.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I wanted look at how and why you and your family might want to think about spending this traditional holiday in possibly an non-traditional place – Walt Disney World. We'll look at where you can spend your Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends, places to stay, and why now is a great time to visit the resort.

I'll play more of your voicemails at the end of the show, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show.

You can email the show or call the voicemail TOLL FREE at 888-703-2171.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

Great show this week, Lou! Your conversation with Dave Barry & Ridley Pearson about their book series Peter and the Starcatchers was indeed very interesting. It's great they were able to team up and basically tell the prequel to Peter Pan, to set up the story we all know today. It's always so insightful you bring up these interesting people and interesting stories, just makes the stories of Disney much more rich in detail!

Also, your conversation about spending Thanksgiving in WDW was also very enjoyable as well. I actually spent Thanksgiving in WDW back in 2000 (I was only 12 at the time!) and I remember us having a blast. We went to Fort Wilderness for Mickey's Backyard Barbecue, and it was just a lot of fun. As always, awesome show Lou, and keep up the great work! Lastly; I wish you and your family a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. Have a great one!

Loved your topic on Thanksgiving at Disney Lou! Back when I was younger we spent most of our Thanksgivings at Disney and loved it. We usually traveled there on Thanksgiving day, and then stayed 10 days. Although it would be a bit crowded thanksgiving weekend, it would lighten up by Sunday and then we could enjoy not just the parks, but all the gorgeous holiday decorations!
