I can't separate the "man" from his music either...I simply dislike both. By choice I have never owned any of his recordings. To me his music was and is nothing more than background noise.

Re: Captain EO returns to Walt Disney World

I saw Captain Eo in Disneyland two weeks ago and I must say... I rather enjoyed it! I don't know what it was about it, but I liked it.

For the record: I wasn't around when the original Captain Eo came out. I was 4 when it was removed

Re: Captain EO returns to Walt Disney World

I just saw it a week ago and I haven't seen it since I was real little. In all honesty though, I enjoyed it too. Is Michael a creep? Yes. But this was made during a time when Michael wasn't considered a creep but instead the King of Pop. It was very much an 80's cheesefest but it was fun to watch and much better than HISTA. The thing I liked about it the most though was that it was made like a movie and not made as a play to the audience type thing. The characters weren't there to acknowledge the audience by putting on a presentation or performance.

Re: Captain EO returns to Walt Disney World

It was! It's a mini-movie. It's great. I love it! I think for 1980 it was a very progressive movie and even today, to an extent, it still is. LOVED the moving floor too. Although as a drummer, the floor wasn't in sync with the music when it's bouncing to the beat. Kinda made me nauseas

You hit the nail on the head! I was a Mom already when Disney opened EO and MJ was loved by millions. I was a Mom of 2 when Disney immediately pulled EO when the Creep stuff surfaced. He wasn't Disney family friendly. The stories of MJ having children over to sleep in his boudoir. I had a lot of respect for Disney shutting it down.

I also had a lot of respect for Disney at D23 saying no it will not return.
I have little respect for the flip. MJ was so in debt and wrestling in bankruptcy court at the time of his death. His fortune for his heirs is multiplying now only in his death. Millions were not idolizing the man who dipped his baby over the balcony of his home. Rather he was more often viewed as a whack job. To me, not very Disney.

I do understand the young who didn't get the iciness or were not alive yet who are fascinated. I pray that his young children who now are struggling because they lived in an isolated MJ, world that they grow up to be fine people and are able to raise children of their own in a more normal environment. I would not have wanted my children to have to go out into public with a Blanket on their heads. What kinda life is that?

It just surprises me that Disney ignores the the icky stuff of his later life to fill a Kodak empty spot.

Re: Captain EO returns to Walt Disney World

I know enough about history to know what kind of person MJ was after his King of Pop days and was also somewhat old enough to remember some of it. That doesn't change who he was at the time of filming Captain Eo at all. I look at Captain Eo as a nostalgic Disney attraction that I was lucky enough to see while it's back, not as a tribute to Michael Jackson like the "new" title ensues. I say la-de-da to "The Captain Eo Tribute." To me, it's just plain 'ol Captain Eo

Re: Captain EO returns to Walt Disney World

Very 80's. Especially that pre-show on how they made it. I laughed a few times during the show just because of how terrible the special effects were and some of the haircuts the dancers had.

Re: Captain EO returns to Walt Disney World

Rumors are that Captain EO will be leaving soon...was to leave last month but delayed.

No hints of what will fill that spot or if Honey will return or if it will just be another empty venue in Future World.
