Skyway and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes - WDW Opening Day Attractions
Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #241 for the week of September 25, 2011.
Walt Disney World will celebrate it's 40th Anniversary next week, and to honor the occasion, I'll continue with our look at its opening day attractions. This week, we'll look at not one, but two that welcomed guests on opening day in 1971. Both were simple pleasures that afforded guests unique views of the parks. And they also share the fact that neither is in operation today. Join me as we explore and examine the Skyway and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes.
I’ll have more information about our 40-Hour live broadcast and charity auction celebrating Walt Disney World's 40th Anniversary on October 1, before playing more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show

I have a distinct memory of riding in 'sky buckets' but I'm honestly not sure if it was on my first trip to WDW (~1979) or at Kings Island, near Cincinnati. We went there a lot during the 70's, since it was only a couple of hours away.
I also remember doing the canoes but it must have been at Disneyland. I was there on a solo trip in 1989.
